Hi, my family are new cat owners. We rescued a 1 year old at Christmas time and need some advise. The cat we rescued was a outside stray cat and now we have kept her inside since Christmas. Each day she sits buy the sliding door and stares outside.

our question is, should we let her outside, or will she run away. Has 2 month's been long enough for her to know this is home and come back? She is great and very loving and we do not want to lose her, but if we let her outside, will she come back.

As new cat owners, any advise it welcome.

does she try to get out? staring out of windows is normal behavior for an indoor cat. is she fixed? did you take her to the vet? if she will stay in, keep her in.

Hi, welcome to TCS!  Bless you for rescuing.  My cats love to look out the window, too.  Most cats will adjust to staying in after a while.

Welcome ..   I have no experience with outside cats but my strictly indoor cats sit and look out the windows all the time . They love to watch the birds and squirrels ..

I think it will be fine to keep your cat in , she will get used to it and you will not have to worry about her running off .

If you have a balcony, then netting it in would do the trick.  If you dont have a balcony, so perhaps a net in a window-opening.  Make sure its strong and reliable!

Perhaps a bird feeder outside a window....

To your question.  Most rescued cats stay happyly inside.  In that they are easier than a bough home raised cat, whom is used to roam outside as he wishes.

But it does happens rescued cats, do run away, although they seem to accept the life inside and like their owners.   So take the safe before the unsure, and let her be inside only kitty.  Its safest so by many reasons.

Tx for caring!

Welcome and Good luck!
