My sister's female cat is trying something with my female cat?

Its really odd, but I feel like in most cases its normal, but my 4 month old kitten went into heat recently and has been trying to get my sister's cat to mate her, I know its because there's no male cats in the house, so I've been spraying my little Kasumi with water to keep her from sticking her rear in my sister's cat's face.

Now I have a new odd thing going on.

Khaleesi(sister's cat) looks like she is trying to mount or perhaps somehow stimulate Kasumi so she will stop annoying Khaleesi. What she does is hops on top of Kasumi and bites her on the nape like a male cat would when preparing to mate. My question is: do female cats actually do this if another female is in heat or is it something else?

I tried looking up my problem on Google, but it only said male cats humping females randomly.... And yes, I am going to fix Kasumi after she is done being in heat.

No, Khaleesi is not in heat at all. Yet she is about 7 months. Yes, she is definitely a female lol.

I mostly clap my hands together and tell Kasumi not to stick her rear into Khaleesi's face, the water bottle is for in case it goes too far and Kasumi starts attacking Khaleesi. Which has happened quite a few times. Usually it has ended with Khaleesi attacking Kasumi to make her stop.

Sticking her rear end where it doesn't belong is perfectly normal behavior for a cat in heat, so she is being punished for doing something there is nothing she can do to stop.I know it is annoying, but take pity and know it is only temporary until she gets spayed. Remember too that she can almost immediately come back into heat, so don't delay! All the luck!

So I can't do anything about the attacks and butt sticking, alright, but I just want to know why Khaleesi is mounting or at least seeming to do it to Kasumi. Is it a stimulation to keep Kasumi off her back(which sadly never works), or is something else?

It's likely a dominance thing. Khaleesi knows Kasumi is in heat. I would say that, while not necessarily typical, both cats are behaving normally under the circumstances.

Is Khalessi spayed?

My only suggestion to you is if the behavior is really bothersome to you or there is concern that one of the cats is going to get injured, is to separate the two until you can get Kasumi spayed.

Khaleesi is not spayed yet, oddly enough she still has not gone into heat at all(probably a good thing right now), my sister and I are going to do an appointment to get the both of them spayed. I hope its soon.

The thing is if we separate them that would be a terrible guilt trip because they became such amazing friends, and I don't know how we even could because there's only one litter box, one food bowl, and one water bowl. Plus my room is so small compared to my sister's room, and we noticed a urine stain on the bean bag so I'm actually kind of scared of separation because I feel like Kasumi would pee on my bedding. Which I wouldn't care because I could wash it, but I don't think that would be a healthy to accidentally breath in cat urine all of a sudden because of my pregnancy. I was really hoping Kasumi wouldn't be in heat so soon, but hey, mother nature is full of surprises, right?

Hi K kasumi

I'm a maine coon breeder and I can tell you that yes some female cats do this.
Some of my girls do  I find it tends it to be the girls who are best buds that are more inclined to do this.

There's nothing you can really do to stop them while they are in heat.
Why they do this, I don't know :dk: I guess it's just hormones, I've never known a spayed female do this.

Also it's not just female cats that display this behaviour. Female dogs do ! Also lots of other females in the whole animal kingdom do too ;)

We have had the same issues!
We have 2 female litter mates Carmel & Panda, 7 months old. No males or other animals in the household.
Carmel recently went into heat. On her 4th day Panda began her heat. We have been keeping them inside.
B4 she was in heat & after her began Panda had decided to jump onto Carmel's back, like she's mounting her & biting her on the back of the neck. Like she is trying to mate with her? Why is shes doing this? We have separated them twice. We did because we already felt so badly for Carmel she didn't need the aggression. It's her 1st heat & certainly doesn't understand what her body is doing or why she is feeling so out of sorts.
I assumed Panda was attacking her because there are no boys available, & if a boy kitty does come around that Panda wants to be the one to have kittens? So is she trying to eliminate Carmel? Survival of the fittest? Now Panda is so beside herself wrapped up in her own hormonal issues. Needless to say they both have a vet appointment for spaying this week. Anyone else with this situation besides GemsGem? Since it seems to be the best buds mostly acting this way I it makes sense since our girls are 'Besties' & sisters.

Everywhere else online they mostly mention male aggression. Not females during heat. I'm interested in why they do this.

Holding a cat by the scruff can be a dominance thing but also a comforting thing. When your cat is relaxed and your petting her, gently pull on her scruff. More than likely she'll get more relaxed.

Since neither are spayed yet it sounds like hormones are controlling their behavior.

Do not delay spaying. Right now you have a very nice run. the ladies are taking care of things. When we had two unfixed females one went into heat. Calling for a mate, she screamed all day. That night, and the vet said it was because the first one went into heat, the second one went into heat. She screamed all night. They alternated one screaming all day, the other all night until we took them in to be fixed. Just wanted you to know this is a possibility.

Cats can be spayed when they are in heat.
