Water Dish Attacker

My almost 2 year old cat Roman has had a bad habit since he was a kitten. He thinks the water dish is a toy, and it's purpose is for him to empty it as quickly as possible. I've tried all kinds of water dispensers but he attacks them, splashes the water everywhere, knocks them over, just cannot stand to see water in anything. If he sees a glass of water, he bats his paw into it until it dumps over.  If we leave the toilet bowl open, he valiantly tries to empty it of water. He ends up soaking himself in all these scenarios but that is no deterrent (even though he nearly scratched me to death when I gave him a bath last year).

I have two other cats and obviously they all need access to water. I leave the bathroom sink and tub dripping all the time for them, but I really thought Roman would grow out of this behavior and I'm sure my older cat doesn't appreciate having to jump in the tub to get a drink. They drink when they want to so it's not a matter of separating Roman from the water dish, as when I put it out if they aren't thirsty my other two cats don't drink from it right away.

Has anyone had this issue or any suggestions?? He's obviously not growing out of this at almost 2 years old.

How about seeing if Roman can learn to drink from a water bottle; the kind that is used for caged rabbits.

You could put out a step stool to help your older cat reach the sink.

Leave a big bowl of water in the bathtub for your other cats to drink out of, and Roman to spill if he wants to. It could be good entertainment for him.
