All cats "count!"[emoji]128522[/emoji] I just skimmed you post - but are all in barn now - at least most of time! Unless you're SURE (ear tipped) they're ALL fixed, tis the season & you'll start having more kittens than what you know to do with!!! hurray for bringing than in - know you just HAVE to get the non eat tipped ones fixed. Check your local spay/neuter clicic who can do it at greatly reduced cost. They'll also provide basic vaccinations. If you don't? You'll end up with a barn full of cats & kittens you'll have a rotten time finding homes for. Everyone thinks kittens are easy to place ----but there're overflowing from shelters & humane society's, & Craig's list, & newspapers, and church parking lots & street corners any minute now, sadly. And jus because some are brothers & sisters -//makes no mind to mating, before long you've got more kittens than you can even believ /it's exponential!!! You absolutely did the right thing --//now just see it thru to the end . So please please please fix right away! Find an organization that can help -often Theyll even send people to help you!

Keep us posted!

@Feralvr
 Do they still count if they are not feral?
Were these stray cats that you befriended, took on the responsibility to becoming their caretaker, got them all neutered and now they live in your yard? And, now you mention that you have this new feral cat feeding and beginning to come around that would need to also be TNRd. I would go to the Feral Badge thread and post your story about how you have helped these cats and how you have plans to trap this new feral cat and see if that warrants the "friend of feral" badge. Surely, you are making an effort. :nod:

You're doing a great job with your cats ---but The feral cats need to be fixed too ASAP or you're going to end up with TONS more very, very quickly. Contact a local spay/neuter organization-expail the situation & how much you're doing to better & save their lives. These organizations will often actually come help you trap and subsidize (help pay) or cover costs completely since it sounds like you're dealing with quite the quantity. PLEASE make these calls asap, because you'll be up to your ears in kittens before you know it (and its a 100% myth that cats that are related or "know each other" won't make babies ----they do and QUICKLY! It sounds like there is already an overload of cats in the area, so even though kittens are cute, you'd have an extremely hard time finding good homes for them (and your barn doesn't need to be more full!) and shelters will go to capacity in weeks. And don't forget -kittens can make MORE kittens at only 4 months of age!!! Amazing how fast cats and kittens become TOO MANY cats and kittens ;) You're doing a wonderful, wonderful thing here!!!!! Now take it to the perfect end -for you and the cats -and get them all fixed. Even if they're stray -not feral, they're not being cared for to the point that someone cares if you're the one feedind, caring for or fixing. And they'll live longer, healthier happier lives too!!! As soon as all the females go into heat ---inside that barn ain't gonna be pretty ;) So please call an organization (or two) until you find someone who'll help you. Groups ARE out there to help people like you who are trying so hard!!!!!!keep us posted!!!!

I know it's possible there's only 1 feral that's unfixed - but be double sure that their ears are knocked or "lopped".....usually left ear. If so --then you just have one to worry about. Any others questionable -definitely see my note above! ;) Good luck! This site offers lots of help in trapping.....

You did note early one that "one of your cats was in heat"....which likely drew in the feral. They know from miles around! And will stop at nothing to get to her....until both are fixed ;) Same advice still goes -call the organization that helped before and see if they'll help with both cats (are you sure the rest of your cats are spayed or neutered?). You're doing such a good thing and almost at the finish line! Having every single one fixed will go a long way toward drawing no more kitties to feed ;)

And depending on how/where you bought them -how do you know just 1 (Mama cat) is in heat? Is she one you bought? Is it possible not all you bought were indeed fixed? Seems odd one would be not fixed if all other "purchased " kitties were? Maybe I'm missing something -sorry if so.

Trying make this more clear i will tell you how i got the cats. A kitten wandered in the yard got pregnant had four, i gave two away to a friend kept two, she got pregnant again had 8 one died, rehome three kept four in the process rehoming two more, i end up with 7 cats in total soon to be 5 if i could rehome the two, since all of them including the mother of them all were socialized it wasnt hard, all i have to do call for them pick them up and place them in the carrier bought them to a low cosr spay and neutered and got every single one fixed so there only one unfixed and that is the feral

So Moma Cat isn't able to be in heat NOW -that was from earlier? And now she and ALL kittens are fixed? I'm sure -if you were able to pick up and grab before to take them & get them fixed, the group that helped you fix them before would have a trap available for you. At our place you put down a refundable deposit (you get $ back when cat comes in in trap to fix). You've done such a beautiful job caring for yours and keeping them safe.....I think this feral knows a home when he sees it! Even if the feral is a male, and all yours are fixrd, I'd still talk to the group , get a trap & have him fixed --/you'll have a lot less fighting & posturing for territory (those unfixed make kitties aren't always sure they're the only unfixed guys around and like to vocally make sure!). And if the feral IS female.....she may decide your place is the place to have kittens and you don't want to go through that again (not to mention if she'd go into heat she'd bring more male ferals around). If you can at all --Id keep going down this BEAUTIFUL PATH you've started & call the group, get some trapping help, and fix this last little creature who's decided to call your place home!

Go you!!!!

Just to clarify for kittychick kittychick : :hugs:

I think M mwallace056 meant to use the word BROUGHT instead of "bought" in his statement above. He brought them all in to the low-cost clinic and had them all fixed. I totally understand the confusion there. :nod: ;)

I see you have posted in the badge thread :clap: I think you may need to tell the story of how the cats showed up as strays in your yard, how you helped them along, and how you got them all neutered.

It may be best to just keep your questions about the Friend of Feral badge in that thread from now on and keep this thread going about the feral cat you are trying to trap! That way this thread isn't getting off the topic of your feral cat! :nod: :bigthumb:

Any more sightings of the feral kitty?
