Hi I'm Sarah and I posted a couple times last year but now I'm here and want to be more active. I'd like to introduce you all to my 3 guys.

The youngest is Roman (full name: Roman James Holiday). He was named after my nephew (who's middle name is James) and my nephew's favorite Nicki Minaj song. We found him through an ad in May 2013. My nephew picked him, and the same night we got Roman, Roman picked my nephew. After my nephew fell asleep little tiny Roman climbed up to sleep with him. He slept with him ever since until we got a bunk bed last week. Now he has to sleep with me lol. Roman started out with some white and gray and was really fluffy, but as he got older he's almost a solid gray now with some white on his chin and stomach. He has been neutered but has stayed petite for an almost 2 year old cat. He's also still very much a kitten and very playful and goofy. His biggest quirk (or annoyance) is that he is obsessed with water dishes. Within 5 minutes of me filling up the water dish, he's literally in it, batting at it, running into the bowl, until the bowl is empty. I've tried all kinds of water providers and he always finds a way to knock it over or get the water out. He's persistent. Because of this we have to keep the tub dripping all the time so the cats can drink. I was hoping he'd grow out of it but he hasn't. He's friendly to my nephew and most adults, but when kids come over he becomes a huge scaredy cat and hides. Probably because they're loud. Very nice cat and very attached to my nephew. He also gets along with my older cats, especially Sonny though sometimes playing and loving on each other turns into fighting at the drop of a dime.

The second oldest cat is Max (who we almost always call Maxy). I found him in an advertisement in June 2013 and was told that he had been abandoned and the woman planned to keep him but she lost her house and was moving to an apartment with a pet limit. Max was declawed fully by his first owner (something I'd never do) and was already neutered. He's an orange cat with bullseye marking rather than the traditional tabby and he's medium haired. She said he was 4 years old (but sometimes I think he's older). The woman met me at a gas station and there she told me that I was Max's fourth owner in a matter of months. His original owners rehomed him, then the second owners abandoned him, and she took care of him before giving him to me. She said his name was Maxwell but I forgot that and we just called him Max from the start. Anyway, for the first couple weeks he was a nervous wreck. I had a large long closet so to give him privacy I made it into his own little area. He had a littler box at one end, and a food/water dish & blankets at the other end. Roman was a young kitten still and was unphased by Max's hissing whenever Roman came near him, and within a few days Roman was an acceptable visitor to Max's abode. Finally after two weeks he started coming out. He and my oldest cat avoided one another but didn't have any skirmishes. Sometimes if Max walked by Sonny, Sonny would bat at him but Max was unbothered. Max started sleeping on my bed eventually but when I'd move my pillow to lie by him he'd quickly move away. He was pretty stand offish until November, when for the first time he actually got on my lap. He didn't stay long but it was improvement. He actually loves my sister and sleeps under her covers sometimes, and sometimes he sleeps with me but still usually at the end of the bed. If he gets on me to sleep it's usually only for a few minutes. I feel like all the bouncing from home to home had to have affected him, because in November of 2013 (nearly 5 months after I took him in) he must've realized he was here to stay and began trusting us. He gets overstimluated fairly quickly by being pet, and will bite (hard) if you don't stop petting him before he gets excited. Otherwise he's a perfectly well behaved boy. He and Sonny still mostly avoid each other but every now and then they cuddle with each other (int the first pic Max is on the left and Sonny is on the right).

Finally, we have my baby, Sonny, who is actually the oldest of the 3 cats at nearly 14 years old. In August 2001, my sister's little friend called us because he knew we loved cats and said he had found a kitten who was hurt and asked if we could take him. We went over and the little orange tabby kitten (6-8 weeks old tops) smelled immediately of infection and there was a wound on his neck. Drove him straight to the nearest vet, and he purred loudly the entire way. My sister and her friend (then 11 and 9 years old) named him Sonny (middle name Vincent) on the way to the vet and the name stuck. At the vet, he was treated for an infected abscess on his neck. Then, the vet said he had discovered puncture wounds on Sonny's stomach (he must have been attacked by a dog) and said that he needed emergency surgery to repair his intestines. He said the chance of survival was slim but I told him to try to save him. Sure enough, Sonny came through like a champ. When we brought him home, he immediately gravitated towards me. I was hypervigilant about his care (even calling the vet in a panic when black spots began appearing on his nose- only to be told by the annoyed receptionist that orange cats sometimes get the spots and he was fine). Over the next 5 years, Sonny was prone to respiratory problems every summer. Also, where his abscess on his neck was would scab over so I had to treat it to prevent infection. But as of summer 2007 he's had no recurrence of either problem. Fast forward to 2010. A bump appeared on his ear and I did research which suggested an aural hematoma. I took him to the vet, who wasn't very helpful except to diagnose it and he did a simple procedure I believe to drain it. But within days it was back and it completely blew up his ear lobe (filled it with fluid) to the point it was purple and full. He had surgery to drain it and he came out with a very wrinkled ear (which I've found is typical after the procedure he had). 2 years ago I realized he had gone deaf when he stopped running in the room at the sound of wet food cans being opened. He is fully deaf now (but I still have conversations with him lol). And last year he started having asthma attacks, which were finally diagnosed in November. Still trying to find the best treatment for him. This cat is my BABY. He sleeps with me every night and if he's scared he runs to me rather than hides. I've had cats my whole life but never bonded to any like I have with him.

Sorry for the novel. Love my kitties <3 I am, by the way, obsessed with orange male cats.
