I hope StefanZ, the expert answers you soon! Is mama hungry or thirsty? Crying is not normal. Try to calm her down and put her back with the kittens while petting her. 58 days is premature, so I hope you are a little off on the date. How are the kittens acting, restless and crying, or sleeping quietly? Sometimes moms don't seem like they have milk, but the kittens need to suckle to stimulate more. If they start crying you'll need to hand feed them, you might want to gather the supplies you need now, Droppers and goats milk or kitten replacement milk found in the pet sections of stores. I pray you can get mama to go to them. All the luck and keep us posted!

One time when I was a kid we had a cat do this who seemed agitated and in distress and was ignoring the kittens, and it turned out she still had a kitten inside her which had to be removed by C-section. After that, she tended to all the kittens and was no longer in distress. Just throwing that out there.

have you check for milk?

i would go out now and get the supplies. get some milk replacement, KMR is a good brand, if you can't find KMR, try to get a full fat version

is this her first litter? she may be overwhelm so try calm her. where do you got the kittens? you may have put them including the mama in a room together.

if you have to feed them, have them on their tummy, head up. do it slow and carefully,

I also wanted to add... my cat when I was a child literally had a litter every year from 1982 to 1988. Her second to last litter, in 1987, produced 5 kittens. Joann (the mother) ran out the door when someone was coming in and did not come back until 2 days after the last kitten died (we tried feeding them but it did not help). Her last litter in 1988, she rejected one of the kittens and would continuously move it away from the other 2. Finally she stopped moving it but after a week it died, despite the fact she'd now agreed to let him feed, etc. Someone suggested she knew something was wrong with the kittens which is why she left the first litter and rejected one of the three kittens at first. We did all we could to save the 5 she abandoned but not 1 survived. So maybe there was something wrong with them. Your cat might be rejecting the litter. Just another thought to throw out there.

Well it's been quite some time and she still hasn't made milk I been feeding them 1 baby passed away [emoji]128532[/emoji] it broke my heart but the other 4 i feed them when they cry and then they sleep she keeps eating and drinking but doesn't want to be near the babies my vet isn't back till Monday so I can't just let them starve I've force feed them they don't seem to latch on to the bottle
They're about a week early but I took them to an emergency vet they said they can survive if I take good care of them they're so skinny and small is this normal? I am keeping artemis (mom cat) feed full dish clean litter and fresh water yet still no milk

Any update on this?

If they are not feeding or the mom is not feeding them, you will need to take over. They can't survive long without any food. Do you have any KMR or goat milk in your house? Or can you get any? Also, a feeding bottle or seringe will be needed.

She would move them away from the other kitten and I wasn't sure why and I would put them all back because she tracks litter on the floor and I didn't want them sick but 1 passed now she doesn't move the other 4 anymore she's just kinda sleeping a lot

what the temp in your house

i would also get a heating pad and place it under a blanket, or get a water bottle and add hot water and place it under the blanket.

I'm quite worried, seeing the picture. Do they move at all? Make sure to keep them warm. Usually they have their mom keeping them warm, or they crawl onto eachother to stay warm, but these are pretty much spread all over the place. If you can, you could make them a warm water bottle, for example. Don't place it against them (it'll be too hot) but place it near them so they can lay in the warmth that radiates from it. Also, if you can, place them next to each other so they can keep eachother warm a little more.

Do they drink at all? As in, do they get anything inside when you force feed them? If so, good. Make sure to weight them once a day to be sure they gain weight. In this case, I would even weight them twice a day if not more, just to be sure.

The mom, do you think you can keep her company and place her near her kittens? You could maybe show that you like the kittens and hopefully she'll feel more comfortable getting closer. If she does happen to lie down with them, stay with her while they are feeding of her. The mother milk is the best they can get, so if she goes near, you could even place a kitten on her nipple if you have to.

For now, the warmth and food is most important. Keep feeding them every 2 hours, including during the nights, and try to involve mom in the process so she can see they aren't scary and hopefully she'll accept them soon.

Please close the window if you can. Even the slightest breeze can cause problems. It might not, but seeing how they look like, I wouldn't want to risk it. They don't have any immune system yet, so if they get something, it will probably not end well.

That's good. As long as they are lively, it's a good sign. From day 58 of the pregnancy and forward, kittens are able to survive outside of their mother. It's really early to be born, but they can pull through with some effort. The mom not seeming to help is causing more problems than it normally should tho, because you will have to take over her job until she hatches on.

It's also good she lays down with them. Does she allow you to put the kittens on her nipples so they can drink from mom? Are they able to drink anything from her?

Not all moms stay near their kittens all the time. As long as she feeds them every few hours and returns to them when they cry, it should be okay as long as you can ensure they are keeping warm and don't get any cool air passing them (This can cause illnesses)

Would a warm towel be ok to place them on?
I'm not familiar with warm towels. As long as it's not wet and not too warm, I think it should be okay. I personally would probably fold it up or roll it up and place it next to them so they can crawl against it and also crawl away from it if needed. If you place it underneath them, there's no way for them to get away from it.
