Am I wrong or did we miss out a Y there???    Yalta - in the Ukraine will hopefully fill a gap  - one way for me not to steel someone else's idea just as they are about to post.
  (Sorry everyone, how annoying.)

Glasgow.  Scotland
agh! i was the one who skipped the Y,  just hopped right over it to Z i guess. i'm sorry!
(Umm...After a while ...all the letters after "x" ...just kind of blur together.)

(Good catch, @MServant, and you're not actually "stealing anyone's ideas"....
or being annoying...

but I rather think it a lot more fun and exciting when the "timing" of this game...coincides with others wanting to post at the same time. It adds a higher degree of learning to the game.)

okay, here's my interesting "J" city.

Jerusalem, which is the capital of both Israel and Palestine (if i'm understanding what i've read correctly). though, apparently the PLO has a different position on the matter. here's a link to the wikipedia listing about jerusalem, very interesting -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem
(That is interesting, because in school, back over 20 years ago...we were told that Tel Aviv was the capital of Israel...but I guess there are many name changes, and map changes happening in the last 20 years.) Or also will be.

pretty much the more you read about the history and i guess politics of it, the more complex it is. my understanding is that tel aviv was capital of israel only from 1948 to 1949 -- if i'm not mistaken. but because of some of the complexities and politics (?) of the situation, tel aviv is treated as the capital of israel though the capital is officially jerusalem. other countries embassies are located in tel aviv too, not jerusalem -- my understanding is that the reasons for this are related to the complexities of the whole situation.

LaLaLand (the place I'm in a lot of the time)...

But since it's not on the map, I'll say:

Launceston, in both the UK and Tasmania

(I suppose that since people are dynamic and ever changing, then politics and views on history are dynamic, so I find the geographical aspects interesting in these contexts.)  Definitely complex.

(For a minute, I actually thought LaLaLand may have been another "real place" in Australia....

)

Malta      (island 80 km south of Sicily)

Nethy Bridge.   It's a tiny place in the highlands of Scotland - the only reason I've heard of it is because I went through it last year when I went on holiday to see Scottish Wildcats.

Tel A civ has never been the capital of Israel. Only Jerusalem. Open to all religions with no exceptions.
