This happened over 3 years ago, but it still baffles me.  On a very hot summer afternoon, my husband walked into the house and said, "there's a cat on the back deck".  So I went out there and it was a teeny kitten about 4 weeks old ( the vet later surmised) and it was just lying there mewing helplessly.  The strange thing is that the deck is built about 8 feet high and it has lots of stairs.  How did that kitten get up there?  She was unable to climb stairs, especially those big stairs, so I wonder if a neighbor dropped it off ( which I kind of doubt, since there is only one and they are pretty close with us) or did a mama cat drop it off?  What do you guys think??  By the way I kept the kitten and named her Boo.  She is a little character!

My guess is her mom brought her to you.  Fleeing perhaps from a big danger, she gave her baby that shadow of chance she could find in her desperation.

Apparently she did pick the right place, as the tiny shadow of chance DID turned real, and did become her saving.

In the name of the Cat, I do thank you.

Good luck!

I would say too, that mama left her, I can't imagine what would scare her so to abandon a kitten. The only other thing I can think of is a male or other adult cat decided to play with the kitten and carried it off, that may be more likely even. My Casper used to bring me newborn kittens, and he was always so proud of himself! Bless you for helping that sweet little girl, I personally think she was a gift from heaven! All the luck!
