My cats get a can of wet food a day but I just can't afford to put them on an all wet diet right now. They were eating dry science diet, but i wanted to switch them to a healthier dry food. I found taste of the wild at my local farm store, it's grain free but their poop is very stinky since the switch. I switched slowly and mixed it with the science diet so that's not the issue. The flavor is roasted venison and smoked salmon. I don't know if it's the salmon and venison that's the issue or another ingredient. I need something healthy that won't make them so stinky and won't break the bank. They get lots of different brands of canned food, purina beyon, science diet, fancy feasts, nutro, wellness....

Try Halo's Spot Stew -- the sensitive formula seems to get good reviews, and it's what I'm using too. It stinks when he does his business, but it doesn't linger long with a good litter. You can probably request sample-sized bags from the company or a pet store to try it out.

Most commercial food will produce stinky-ish poop, so don't expect odorless poop. Sometimes parasite worms can cause smelly poop, so if they haven't been checked out by the vet, it's something to consider.

oh Canada~
I've fed Petcurean Go! ($29 CAD for 4lbs - they're giving out free samples if you can find a retailer nearby) and Simply Nourish Source (Petsmart, $24 CAD for 6lbs) dry with good results, and the latter is pretty affordable. In our healthy cat, the poop smell isn't bad. In a super pinch, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul is probably the cheapest decent food I've fed ($20 CAD for 5lbs), but there are definitely higher protein and lower carb out there.

I see that you feed Purina Beyond canned . Look at the Purina Beyond Dry ,they have a grain free formula I think . It is pretty good and affordable . If you go to Walmart.com coupons they always offer coupons on this food and others ..

This is funny, I saw the notification in my emails, so went ahead to add it. When adding, the system asked if this could be it. I was scratching my head wondering how come you're asking me to add something that is not only there, but that you've already reviewed

Thank you, both for being so quick!

I wondered about that too because a few times (not always) I have seen poop that was not quite solid. I'm not sure what cat it's from though. My first cat the vet requested a fecal sample, and he was treated for coccidia and he also got a few treatments for worms but he was always negative for them. My 2nd cat they never asked for a sample and I forgot to bring one in. He did get treated once for roundworms and there were a bunch in his stool the next day, but they never did another treatment. Neither have bulging Bellys though, and they get excited when I feed them but they don't eat everything all at once, even the canned which is why I'm only doing half for each cst in the am and half at night. The older one is chubby but it doesn't seem like the big round belly the other one had when he had round worms. They are also indoor only so I don't think they picked anything else up.

I did only notice it after they were fully on the new type of food so I'm pretty sure that's the culprit. The younger one has to be neutered soon anyway ,aye I will see if they will test a sample while he's there over night.
