Hello I'm new here :) I have a 11 year old female calico shorthaired she weighs 11lbs. Recently she developed a mouth ulcer and also a rodent ulcer she was put on Prednisolone 5 mg twice a day for 14 days then one a day for 7 days than a pill every other day until the bottle is empty. We found out that it was the food i was feeding her which at the time was only Evo dry food. Not smart i know but now that i know better about a cats diet she gets sheba, Fancy Feast classics and Weruva cats in the kitchen And sometimes a little dry. everything was good the ulcers are gone the vet said the only thing she could find was a little protein in her urine but she didnt feel that it was her kidneys. Tomorrow is the last day of the 14 days and just a couple days ago i noticed that her one pupil is slightly bigger than the other and she has a little bit of discharge in her eyes it dry's black but she's eating and acting normal. So i was wondering if that was normal and caused by the medicine or should i be alarmed? Thank you. :)

Has she ever had a URI before? Prednisolone suppresses the immune system so it makes her body a lot more likely to pick up a virus or have an outbreak of the herpes virus if she's ever been exposed. If it persists I would def consult a vet, she may need some eye drops to help clear it up.

I can try. And no she's never had one this was her first time being sick in her 11 years of life. I wish i had known that i would of never had given her the medicine but i can't just stop now right? It would mess up her system badly i read.

Sometimes i notice it other times i dont and just remembered the one eye had changed to a rust orange over the years but its never been irritated and the color hasn't gone from the iris to the whole eye i think its just an eye color change that comes with age. The vet looked at her eyes and didn't say anything was wrong so i guess their good.
