hi everyone im new and got my first ever kittens 3 weeks ago!. i got a maine coon xs then a tabby mixed moggy boy 2 weeks later as a friend. we are getting neutering vouchers from the cats protection, 40 for the girls 25 for the boy. the girls 12 weeks the boy 13/14 as they couldnt remember when they were born
. i phoned my vet to enquire about getting them done and they wanted 63 for the girl and 52 for the boy and wont do it till they are six months old. i think that is alot, or is that about right, plus theres the fact they can get pregnant from 4 months old. im in lancashire near blackburn does anyone know of any vets more reasonable in price we get tax credits as my partner dosent earn alot. wevebeen with the vets for years as we have our old dogs, not to sure what to do thanks xxx

Hi and welcome to the site :wavey:

I'm guessing you are from the UK. :D Yes, that is quite expensive unless you live down south.
I'm from the Midlands and I pay £26 for boys and £45 for girls.

I would suggest ringing round a few other vets to ask how much they charge ;)

Just another thought....

If you are claiming certain benifits the PDSA offer free veterinary care including neutering and spaying. I think you can check on their website where their practices are located and if you are eligible.

Here's the link to their website

I think they don't like it, but I know people who do this. Unless you tell them they wouldn't know you have your pets registered elsewhere too :D

thanks again but the pdsa dont allow people on tax credits , and theres no rspca around here either so it has to be a normal vet
i thort the voucher would nearly cover the neutering cost so was a shock to see how much they charged. x

That's a shame but it was worth checking ;)

I would definitely ring round and inquire about prices at all your local vets. Some vets have website's with the price lists on, so worth having a look at their website's too.
