Hi  I have a very small apartment, so I keep my cats, litter boxes in my laundry area, Its a small room with washer and dryer.   I just got a new kitten (6 months old) for a while , my granddaughters mother is living with her mother  until her new baby is born and her home is done, So i agreed to watch my grandaughters kitten.  Zazzy (the resident cat)  is using the kittens litter box now  with the kitten. (even though his is right there same litter as kittens. I have noticed when I first walk in the laundry area a puddle of water on the floor, across from the  water bowls. but no water near the bowls. It DOES NOT SMELL LIKE CAT URINE, IT JUST SMELLS LIKE WATER.  I KNOW THEY ARE DEFECATING IN THE LITTER BOX, AND THE BABY IS URINATING IN IT, BUT I WONDER IF ZAZZY IS URINATING OUT SIDE OUT OF ANGER , BECAUSE THE LITTLE CAT IS EATING HIS FOOD. IDK ? IF IT'S SPILLED WATER, IT SOMEHOW GOT FROM NEAR THE BOWL ACROSS THE FLOOR , WITH NO WATER NEAR THE BOWL . SO I GUESS MY QUESTION IS  DOES CAT URINE HAVE A DISTINCT SMELL ALL THE TIME?  CAN IT BE URINE OR WATER ?, IT IS ALSO CLEAR, . SORRY MY CAPS WONT UNDO SOMETIMES WHEN I USE THEM .

I KNOW I HAVE ALOT OF QUESTIONS BUT I NEVER HAD TWO CAT'S AND I AM VERY STRESSED AND CONFUSED.

Some cats when they drink too fast or too much will regurgitate a little water, it could be that, especially if your resident act is stressed by the new addition. Spayed or neutered cats do not have strong smelling urine, but it will have SOME odor, that is why I think it may be water that they regurgitated. A good way to tell too is to lay some white tissue paper or a paper towel on it, if it is perfectly clear, most likely water, urine almost always has a yellow tint. Please take a deep breathe and try to relax, and make sure you have a bottle of enzymatic cat urine and spot cleaner on hand. it removes all traces and smell of urine and vomit. We are here and will try to get you through this, don't be afraid to ask us anything, I've had over 50 years of experience with cats, there is no telling how many years of expertise are on this wonderful site. If you have a problem, I'm SURE someone here has had the same! Good luck!

Thank  you,

It is clear , I wiped it up with a paper towel,  The puddle was way to big to be regurgitated water, unless he drank 1/2 gallon. LOL  But THANK YOU,   That makes a lot of sense. I will keep an eye on my poor zazzy this new guy is driving him crazy!!  He likes it sometimes but then he needs a break , and looks at me like "help me mommy "  And  Thank You for letting me know it's ok to vent, I am writing what  seems like  "books" that's how stressed I am !  I really am  I AM USED TO EVERYTHING BEING PERFECT IN MY HOME , HATE DISRUPTION, MY HOME IS MY SANCTUARY AND I FEEL LIKE IM IN A TORNADO. IT'S VERY UNEASY FOR ME. SO THANKS  AGAIN FOR LETTING ME VENT.

I was taking my kitties away to a boarding kennel one time and found the towel , as well as Sammie's underside fur, to be completely soaked. At first I thought it was pee, but it didn't smell at all. Then I thought it was because of the anxiety "panting" (of being in a car and a carrier and all, they hate it), but the puking up water actually makes sense!

OK, well I hope not my poor baby boy is it stress? and what do I do about that? He is not eating as much I think because the little one is eating out of his dish, he seems  to get mad. POOR ZAZZY , SO MUCH CHANGE IN ONE WEEK!  I really do not have the money to run to the vet unless it something VERY URGENT!  I know don't get pet's if you don't have vet money, but  I had a job when I first got zazzy. I am out on disability (very limited) due to health issues.  As far the new kitten I WOULD HOPE my granddaughters mother would pay any vet bill's I hope my son discussed all of that with her before we agreed to take him. ( She want's him back when she delivers her child, and can move back to her own place.) I tried Care Credit but NO LUCK.  Funny because although I will never use credit cards again, My credit is not to bad.  So I don't know what to do if it's stress related. Ill just pray for now.

Thanks.

Oh and BTW Zazzy's real name is Sammie, but his crazy mommy (me) call's him zazoozal! zazzy for short. I have bout 20 nick names for him, weird, cause the more I love something the more crazy little names I give them. My poor granddaughter and son, I am shocked they knew their  names in the beginning! LOL
