This was the response I got when I suggested we head back home while out hiking.

As nasty as this looks, it just means Makena is mad about something, he would never scratch or bite following a hiss. In fact, he was not even looking at me, I was off to the side holding the camera in front of him  Note that his ears are up, not laid back. A few moments after this was taken, he was trotting along happily leading the way home. I once had Makena riding on my shoulder, we got caught in a sudden downpour and I was trying to get home quickly, he alternately purred (because he likes riding on my shoulder) and hissed (he was mad about the rain and the hike being cut short, the whole way back. If he slips and get a paw wet in cold weather, gets surprised by a loud noise etc, he will hiss.

A low pitched growl is another matter, that is a warning that an attack is imminent. He has never growled at a person, just dogs, and other animals.

A really gentle face lol but beautiful eyes.

I enlarged the screen and took it from the door.
How are you this morning?

Nice photo, they don't look like they had any intention of moving from their comfy spot for you.

I was heading out to work when I posted here earlier in the day.  Mouse gave me a few stink eye looks as I was going out because everyone else had already gone out for the day and he was going to be on his own for a few hours...

Oh don't go feeling sorry for Mouse  :lol3: , he's been perfecting his 'stink eye' and 'cats rule the world' looks since he was a chubby kitten in his momma's paws.... he made sure I knew my place before I adopted him. :worship:  :king:     I believe it is a Russian Blue trait so it doesn't surprise me to see gray kitties well represented here. :lol:
Lol. That's a wonderful picture.
How did he put you in your place when he was a baby?

Thanks @Stewball  , oh I swear he must have learned stink eyes off his cat momma within days of his eyes opening, and by the time I met him when he was about 7 weeks old he was an expert at letting people know what he was thinking.  Russian Blues seem to have a naturally regal / condecending look that puts humans in their place, they're well known for it!

I love the way he's looking at you from under his eye lashes.

@Columbine   I fear Mouse could have a long thread all of his own on that topic.
   @kntrygrl256  's Ghost seems pretty expert at this look as well though. I think your Shadow does a pretty good king impersonation too, and @misterwhiskers  Robin definitely has the makings of one in his eyes there.  @Norachan  's Button Moon is another king contender here - I definitely feel he's got that 'You're not worthy' look in his eyes as well. Need to see more of all the cats in this thread to see how their stink eye looks cross over with their you're not worthy ones.

She is a beauty! I took her to a judge (cat show) to see what they said about her. They really like her, an said that she could win some shows, but my cat did not like to be  around that many strange cats, and not to be handled that way. And I don´t want to spend my weekends in shows. So she´ll be my beauty at home!

I better not tell her what you´ve said about her- her ego could easily be to big!

"Another inch closer and it's curtains for him!" That's what Nora is thinking here.She and Rudi have about 10 catnip mice between them but that particular one is definitely Rudi's and the cheeky little so and so placed it right at the entrance of Nora's cottage retreat after she had got inside.

I reckon she already knows so you mihght as well pamper to your heart's content.
  Her face is so pretty and that little white speckle over her heart begs to be hugged.

Your decision about the cat show is so sensible.  I've seen far too many stressed out, unhappy cats at shows and I haven't been to that many shows.  Enough.  I was lucky because when I decided Mouse was quietened down enough to think about showing and went to our local one he took to it like a duck to water.  Everyone was laughing because he looked like a pro and was the most chilled out kitty there!  Lapped up all the attention and cuddles from the judges. There seemed to be one judge he didn't like being handled by and that showed in the judging and afterwards when I went back in to the hall, but mostly he seemed to love all the extra hugs and would look out of his pen with that 'I know I'm gorgeous expression of his'.  He was a bit puzzled by all the cat noises which was entertaining - he's not familiar with growls, hisses and spitting and looks at the other cats with such a funny expression when they play up and he can see them.  I was holding him once and another person came fairly close with their Abyssinian and the other cat hissed at Mouse - he looked at that little cat like it was an alien and had no idea what it was saying.  Seems Russian Blues do most of their communication with their facial expressions.

@catsnip
 That photo is sheer brilliance!   You have a proper blue kitty evil-eye kitty there. :clap:  :lol3:    Mind you, the partner in crime is giving you a bit of a 'stinker' too. :shocker: :nod:  :lol2:
Thank you so much! A lot of it is the way these blues look out from under their eyebrows, although somehow Mouse is also looking down his nose at us!

Zoozi's sister Gleeda is actually giving me "I didn't do it" look, but she is also considering if she ready to rumble!
;):rbheart::lol3:
