Hi!

A short introduction :)

I'm currently doing an internship at a company that develops Mobile Apps for agricultural and veterinarian companies. At this point in my internship I'm doing research to the target audience and collecting information about the target audience and how they think about the new Mobile App I am working on.

The survey:

I don't want to say too much about the survey beforehand, because it might influence your answers :) But the target audience I'm trying to reach are American pet owners, which is a pretty large group :). The instructions are listed in the survey and you can fill it out in 10 to 15 minutes.

You can find the survey here:

Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

I tried to do it, but honestly, it forces the participant to think too much; it's way too time consuming.

A survey, typically give the participant options - it does not ask for so much commentary.  It should be quick and easy to fill out.

Don't you already have an idea of what YOU want your app to contain? I feel you should be the one giving various options for the participants to click on, instead of making them generate ideas for you.

@Tara G  Thank you  :) It's appreciated!

@sivyaleah  I can understand where your reply comes from :) There is a general idea for the App. But the research is important, because even though I think I know what users want, users might want different things. So I have to be sure and just plain ask them

Usually I would do interviews for these kind of researches, but I'm limited in time and opportunities to do so. I live in the Netherlands and it's difficult to get enough people to interview via Skype. So that's why it's more like an interview survey if you will :p

Understood.  However, this could be the reason you aren't getting enough people to respond.

Also, to be blunt, you're an unknown quantity. We don't mind helping with surveys, but if you sign up just to present a survey, and the survey is time consuming, you are less likely to get responses. Instead of 10 essay questions, you might get a better response rate with 40 multiple-choice questionnaires.

You raise a valid point too. The reason for this might be that I have considerably little time for my research. This app I will be creating is for my thesis, which I have a total of 4 months for and have to do alone. This is a very small amount of time considering I have to do research, develop prototypes and also have those tested with users.

But like I mentioned, multiple choice questions do not give the quality answers I'm after. So I understand a survey might not be the best method, but it's the best I can manage given the situation

So that might be why I overlooked some of these things.

I'm not trying to be offensive, but just trying to explain my actions :p

I didn't bother as I'm from Australia.  Probably would be worth mentioning right at the beginning of the survey that you're targeting Americans .
