I don't know if i posted in the right forum but I have capsules of antibiotic of 500 mg and need to add water to it to make a liquid form of the antibiotic. How do I do this? The capsule should make 12 doses. My girl is pregnant and needs to be on Clirathmycin as she is having problems with her pregnancy.

Thanks,

Do you mean Clindamycin?  What you are asking is unusual.  Clindamycin tastes pretty awful and in liquid form its usually compounded with flavoring agents to make it go down better.  Who told you to break open capsules and add water?  I'm not sure you should be doing this, but if its on a vet's advice then fine, but call your vet office and ask to speak to either your vet or a tech for instructions.  If they told you to do it, then they can tell you how  to do it.

i agree with the above. if is is clindamycin and you need a liquid form, there are clindamycin drops available, called antirobe aquadrops at strength of 25 mg/ml.

the usual dose is 2.5-12.5 mg/lb twice a day. the lower doses are used for abscesses/tooth infections, the middle doses for bone infections, and the highest doses for toxoplasmosis.

if it is clarithromycin, there is an oral suspension you can get if you need the liquid form.

@bellavita1  You do not say whether you obtained the medication you have from your vet.  Giving any medication without a vet prescription including dose amount, frequency and duration is a risk to your cat's health and my advice is that you should discuss anything you plan to give your cat with a vet first.  This is especially important given that you say your cat is pregnant.

@bellavita1  That is great you have been in contact with your vet and are taking all precautions you can with your cat.  I hope you get the information you need and that she is safe throughout her pregnancy.   It is always a worrying time even when they are in good health.
