older cats and immunizations

what is everyone's experience or thoughts on older cats with reduced kidney function getting immunizations? I am really worried about getting my old guys immunized, they are strictly indoor and 17 years old, but i'm worried about not immunizing them. the vet suggested not giving the full dosage, but i'm so unsure about what to do

 

Well....I don't usually immunize any of my cats after their initial kitten shots and rabies.  Definitely wouldn't do it for chronically ill cats or older cats.

Vaccine vials state they are only for healthy animals. I do not vaccinate my older cats and def not my 2 with kidney issues. The FVRCP vaccine has actually been linked to kidney disease though not all vets believe this but if you google it you can read some of the studies that have been done.
