Hello, I brought in one only my feral cats to be neutered yesterday.

We found out she has rectal prolapse.

Vet performed purse string suture.

She stayed at the vat over night last night.

I have some questions on how to move forward:

1-When should I release her back to the same spot? Today is going to be super cold and I am nervous to release her after being neutered and having the other surgery.

2-Online says she needs to eat easy digestable cat food (what types are good? I have been giving her Kirkland Dry Food as I feed 6 strays).

3-It says she should be given a laxative? Should I ask the vet to give her one?

4-A cause of the rectal prolapse can be from parasites. Should I be giving the cats something in case they have parasites?

Any help would be great.

I would recommend finding a way to keep this cat inside for one or two weeks to give her time to heal.  You can also provide a bland low-roughage diet and soft WET food so she will not have hard stool and give her repaired prolapse time to heal.  I would not feed her ANY dry food, but if you must, then wet it and give it time to absorb the water.  She should definitely be wormed, but you may want to wait a few days to give her time to heal.  Ask your vet about dewormer, or you can get Nemex-2 from most feed stores, and it's tasty so you can mix it in with the other cats' food.  You need to repeat it in 2-3 weeks to get rid of any worms that have hatched since then.  Also, the cat dose is twice the dog dose (by weight) so keep that in mind when dosing.  They  like the taste of it and it gets roundworms and whipworms and some others but NOT tapeworms.  That is a different medication, and more expensive, but you can buy that at the feed store or pet store also.  You will know if she has tapes because she will have lots of what looks like little pieces of rice in her stool and also usually dried out ones around her anus.  Your vet  might offer you a combo pill that would get rid of tapes and the other worms, or you can get them at feed stores and some pet stores.  You can get a general and tasty laxative called LAXATONE at most feed stores and pet stores.  If there is a Tractor Supply store near you, they should have everything you need.  If you can borrow a dog-sized crate from someone, that would be a good place to keep her for a week or so.

Red Top Rescue gave you good advice.  I am just thinking though that as you have paid a vet for so many services, he/she should be able to give you some advice as well.  I agreed the wet food is the way to go.  Any cat with this many problems should be handled carefully.  I kept my ferals in the garage while they were recovering from spay/neuter surgery I don't know much about how long to keep yours under these circumstances.
