Long story short.... we x-rayed Jinx yesterday to check for bladder stones since he was acting painful, and discovered no bladder stones, but he does apparently have bad spondylosis which we are assuming is the culprit.

We put him on a course of Onsior to see how he does. I could see a pretty big difference in him after his first dose. The subject the vet and I touched on but didn't go into much detail about - is where do we want to go from here, as far as long-term pain management.

I know a lot of dogs on Adequan with great results, but don't know of any cats, so just wondering if anyone here has experience with it. I'm going to ask about it when I go to work tomorrow, but personal experiences are always nice.

Bumping this up as I know there are several cats here who are on or have been on this in the past, mainly for arthritis.

I have a 15 year old cat with severe arthritis in her lower spine. She was so painful I was starting to question her quality of life. She stopped jumping, she stopped grooming and she had trouble getting up when she was lying down. My vet recommended trying adequan and the results were amazing. She's now been on it for about a year and I give her the injections weekly. She jumps and grooms herself again. She still has some bad days where she'll move a little slow but nothing like before the adequan. I highly recommend it.

One male cat I had years ago had pretty severe arthritis in one of his front legs and gave him sub-q Adequan injections weekly. I wouldn't say the results were miraculous, but it did help. This was about ten years ago, and  what I got from my vet was actually a horse medication, I'm not sure if they make a version targeted for cats now, but it wasn't terribly expensive. Definitely worth a try.
