good news, we got mom and all 6 kittens in the house....put the kittens and mommy Chloe in the bathroom, laid blankets and towels on the floor and put in litter, food and water in with them. I shut the lights to mellow her out, I'm sure it was traumatic for them but i know now they'll have a chance at survival being in a warm safe place to raise her lil ones. what next?? I've spoke to a thousand shelters and experts who said the shelters are all full so it's gonna be up to me and my daughter to care and socialize the kittens. i have no experience in any of this so any more advise on where I go from here is appreciated.

Not that it applies here, but that's exactly the way I ended up with orphaned kittens.  I brought them in first and then the mother was having none of it and disappeared.

But what I didn't know was that she had two other kittens stashed elsewhere.  I assumed there was only three because when I found her (well I didn't really find her, she walked by with one of them in her mouth when I was on my deck and I followed her) and she was still there with three the next day.

Long story short, I didn't see her for two months after I took the kittens in and then she appeared at my back door with two other kittens.   They surely would've died if I'd trapped her and kept her inside.  Or do you think she had them later?  The three I have had dried umbilical cords attached when I brought them inside.
She was in the middle of moving the litter when you followed her and found them.

That's why she had one in her mouth, moving them :)

well the temp dropped to 50 and Im going to buy thick gloves and litter box, Im determined to save this lil  family.... will try to catch her with a towel and gloves. I cant stand to hear them crying, my son wont be home for several more hours and Im afraid to wait till after dark.
Just be very careful how you do this, you don't want to run her off or have her escape and move her kids.

Good luck!

Great news!!

You won't have to do anything, mom will do all the work. Unless you notice she is not caring for them, but that doesn't happen too often.

You will be able to interact with the babies after about 2 weeks old. Mom shouldn't mind at all, and this alone socializes them.

The bigger they get, the harder it will be to stop holding and kissing them, this is plenty of human interaction to have social friendly kids :)

Good job!

Oh also meant to say this-

If it looks like the kids are not all staying with her, since they can really get to scooting around, you can create an area that will help contain them together, just by using a large box and cutting it down to where it's basically just a tray with maybe an 8" lip around it.

Plenty of space though for mom to feel comfy and not cramped in a too small space.

Yes, I knew she was moving them, what I didn't know was that she had 5 and not 3.  She had only moved three (or maybe she hadn't birthed the other two yet ???)  What's amazing to me is she was still there after 24 hours, even after I had disturbed her, picked up the kittens and fussed over them, and yet she didn't move them again.  Anyway, I shudder to think how those other two kittens would have starved if I had waited for my friends to get there and we actually could have trapped her.  I could have died when she appeared with the other two over two months later.   But now she lives with my parents and they absolutely adore her, so it all worked out.

Congratulations!!!!  Can't wait for the pics - hint, hint.  :)

This worked really well to keep mine contained when they got mobile.

More Pics to follow...

Quick question, Moms in the bathtub and has one kitten with her but the other five are on the blanket sleeping. Do you suggest I move the other 5 kittens in the tub with mom or let her be?? I just don't want the ones not with her to starve?????

Yes I would. She is feeling a sense of safety and privacy from the tub, so let her have them all, but it's going to be cold for them so you will want to put some bedding down.

I hope this is a tub that you won't need to use?

Otherwise I would not.

It doesnt seem she is much worried by you being there in this her room / bathroom.     It may be so the socializing of her will be easier and go much quicker than you thought.

But - patience and time are your friends.

Was it very difficult to catch her / get her into the carrier / cage?

Hi all, so I have a few questions and I am hoping you can help....

As I said last night mom kitty Chloe and all kittens are in the bathtub but I'm concerned because after laying in the wet dirt in the bushes they are all covered in dirt and mud, I want to clean the tub and all of them, kittens and mom but Chloe wont let me close, even when I go to bring her food and the Goats Milk I bought she growls if I get too close. Shouldn't I have them in a clean place to keep them all healthy??Also I don't know how often to give her the supplement or for how long and the instructions are unclear.  It doesn't seem healthy that she and her kittens are laying in the dirty tub, can't they catch infections or diseases being dirty like that?? I see her nursing when I go check on them but I don't see her attempting to clean herself or her babies. I know they all must be exhausted so I'm trying to give them peace and quite and as much privacy as possible but I am concerned...

Any advise on what to do????

No, dirt is dirt, they won't be in danger of infections or diseases from it, it's more of a nuisance.

Mom def. needs time to adapt and trust, so I would simply place a litterbox and her food in there with them, be sure the food dishes have sides that will prevent any scooting/wandering babies from crawling right in to it.

Allow her time, they are brand new to her so she will be in the highest protective mode now.

There will be a point where she will feel alot more comfortable with you interacting later on.

Plus she will be cleaning them up pretty good soon enough to help at least.

I would let her have as much privacy as she wants now.

Supplement meaning the goat's milk?

Milk production/nursing really takes alot out of moms so she will do best if you continue to give it to her for some time.

Ok wonderful,

thats what I'll do, continue to let them be and continue the Goats milk supplement (I bought the cans and powder formula ) Im not sure how often to give Chole the milk as in how many times a day and how much?? I think she weighs about 10-12 lbs with the extra weight from being preggo.

Well, after your adrenal rush and determination to get mama Chloe (I see she now has a name) you were probably not only relieved, but Exhausted! Looks like things are falling into place! Were you able to put some towels or blankets in the tub? Does she seem relaxed and more secure now?  I am anxious for update! And pictures when Chloe allows. Keep us all posted - you truly have some fans rooting for all good outcomes!
