That's a big lizard! Not sure how I'd feel about having dog-sized lizards running around! Your cat sure was brave going for one of their babies! :lol3:

This type of lizard buries the eggs away from their water home. There is a pond on one side of our property and mama buried the eggs on the front side of our yard beside the area where we place the garbage for collection. Puddy found one hatchling and bought him into the yard, he did not kill it which was strange as he likes to eat geckos for lunch. To make a long story short when I released the baby back onto the ground he run away and circled back around my feet as much to say thank you for my freedom. I took the garbage out 6 months later and there he was going across the road to the other side of the pond, he paused looked right at me and went on his way. When mama was trying to get in we were standing not 3 feet from her taking the pictures, they are not agressive but will hiss at you when they are mad. After we went away she simply left the yard after we left the gate open so she could get out.

OMG I would have seriously panicked seeing momma look for baby.

I don't necessarily think the mama was truly looking for the baby---most reptiles don't care for their young after they hatch. Although I don't know the habits of water dragons so maybe. But it sure makes a cool story!
