   Happy Valentine's Day

Today I'd like to know about your first crush. Who was it? How did it turn out?

My first crush was on a boy called David who was in my class when I was 9. All the girls liked him, but I thought we were a match made in heaven because my favourite sweater was the same colour as his favourite football team's shirts and we both got a fountain pen for Christmas.

Then he got his lovely blond hair cut into a crew cut and I didn't fancy him any more.

oh Canada~
lol. I was in grade 4 and there was a boy named Christian. He was super nice and shy, but people made fun of him because he was pretty awkward. I liked him because the class saw me crying once when I lost my Raichu plastic toy somewhere at school and he offered to give me his.

A week or two later, he asked for it back and I said no.

I was in 6th grade and he was in 7th. We both played trumpet and our classes practiced and played together. He was a really good musician, played several instruments including piano, and he was always first chair.

All the girls liked him, and he and I were friends and worked well together. He was really nice, we got along really well, but it never was more than friends. When I was a high school freshman (he was a sophomore) I beat him out for first chair at the beginning of the year and he was never very nice to me after that.

His name was Michael and he was my kindergarten boyfriend.
I can still picture him.  For our class pictures he wore a tropical floral print shirt; it had a red background and white flowers and he wore white casual slacks (very Miami Vice!).  He was Italian and had the very dark coloring.  He brought me flowers a few times.  My Mom says one bunch was dead (they had been given to his mother
) but I don't remember them being dead.  He brought lilacs in for ALL the girls.  I remember finding our cubby's full of them one morning.  Lilacs are my favorite flower, scent, and color.  He may have started it for me; but they are also my Gram's favorites so she might have contributed.

For my 6th birthday; in the fall of our first grade year, he was the only boy to be invited to my party.  I had plans that he and I would sit on the couch with card tables to eat and the rest of my friends would sit in the kitchen; which was just almost the same room in our little apartment.
Fortunately for him; he moved before school started.  I saw him a few years later when he was on one of my step-brother's soccer teams.  I never talked to him.

Another Michael. He and his sister lived in another state and used to spend the summer with their grandparents, who lived down the street from us, starting when we were about 4 or 5 years old. We lost touch after his grandparents died and my family moved when we were about 11.

His name was Rick (no, not my Rick now). We met when he was running one way around our grade school. He ran around the corner and I was running the other way. We hit right smack-dab into each other. Both of us ended up with horrid black eyes; our mothers took us to the doctors because our eyes looked terrible. We were in the third grade at the time.  We had a terrible crush on each other that lasted.....oh, about a couple of months or so. And then it was on to other boys and girls. I do remember him visiting our house and me going to his house once or twice.

My first crush, was a mutual one.  His name was Michael, and we met in kindergarten.  When I moved to NJ at age 10-1/2, that was that.  In those days there wasn't very many good ways to stay in touch, let alone being so young LOL.

I did run into him many years later a couple of times.  First, around age 16 when I went with a friend to see a talent show at the local high school (she was a student also, I'd come to Brooklyn for the weekend to visit her).  It was a fleeting, sweet meeting in the school auditorium.

Many years later, in my 30's we got in touch with each other again.  Both of us now involved with significant others.  We had a nice lunch, really enjoyed catching up and chatting but, I think we both realized we did't have all that much in common to form a friendship as adults.  HIs kids must be quite grown up by now!

3rd grade, George...  we were about as opposite as you could imagine.  I was the pale, freckled, blue-eyed, temperamental brunette, and he was the dark haired, dark eyed, deep tanned cutie.  All the girls had a crush on George, but I got the coup when the choir teacher paired me up with him as the "Hawaiian children" for our presentation of "It's a Small World".  Ooooh, how the "popular girls" were so jealous!  And yes, I reveled in it for as long as it lasted.... which wasn't very long, but there ya have it.  lol

Allen wasn't a real crush but a church buddy who I like a lot. My real crush was Jeff. We went together for about 1 year and he started to smoke pot so I dumped him. I then got with my husband now(36 yrs)

Mine was a Jeff in second grade. In the school play that year I was Cinderella and he was the prince, I was in Heaven! I had a crush on him all the way through grade school, but he was too popular and I wasn't, so he found a new love and broke my heart. I saw him a few years ago and was NOT impressed, he wasn't as successful in life as I thought he would be. I'm very happy where I'm at!

In elementary school, his name was Jason. He had a mental disability, I never knew what the disability was. He would spend his recesses with me and his mom would invite me over all the time for BBQ's. I liked him, he was quiet and sweet.  I remember he would always let me have the last push on the swing, or the last chip in the bag, etc.

One of the new kids to the school ended up being quite the bully and beat Jason up for whatever reason. Him and his mom moved away almost immediately after that.

I regret not knowing what happened to him, I've tried to find him through social media, but haven't had any luck. I wish I could tell him that I still think of him...
