I dont exactly know how to start a question of the day,but..

For Americans..which r are you feeling, relief or regret??

Its tax time!!I have all kinds of plans for my refund, how about you??

Dread or anticipation??

People outside America..

is there an equivalent in your country??A once a year reconcile??

Either you get money back, owe the government,or break even..

Maybe too personal..

I'm in Canada, it's basically the same here. I'm waiting on one more tax paper and really hope it comes soon. My husband did our taxes yesterday, but he won't submit until that paper comes just to make sure we have the number correct.

Our refund will buy a new bed, put one rent payment into savings and leave us with some spending money.

I took tax advice from coworkers regarding getting the most money from our bonus checks (we get them monthly) since they are taxed at a higher rate. I would never recommend doing this in the future. I owed $1700. Thankfully my partner's refund covered that, but only barely. I am pretty upset, as we wanted the refunds to pay off some credit cards as well as put money in savings for our wedding.

We finally have all of our paperwork and Rick is going to call H & R to have the taxes prepared. He used to do it himself, but with all his union activities and such, he doesn't like dealing with it anymore. From doing a very quick analysis, we think we might be getting a bit of a refund. Not much, but we may not have to pay in.

Hopefully dh will take care of the taxes while I'm gone.  We had to wait for W-2's, mine didn't come until the first week in Feb.

They need to be done so I can update the info on the FAFSA forms I filled out almost a month ago.  So frustrating, colleges want the parents to fill these things out in January- but we don't get W-2 forms back until the end of January.  And we will have 2 in college in the fall (yay us).

I don't know why I bother.  I don't think the girls are going to get anything in aid anyways.  We make too much.
Yeah- right, that's why the girls have had to take out student loans to pay for school..................

The refund money will go toward bills, tuition, house/car fixes.

I really should look at my witholdings from my temp job.  I haven't changed witholdings so I get taxed at the maximum.  And I didn't realize just how much that eats up my itty-bitty paycheck until now...

Since I bought my house, I always get money back.  But, it's never put towards fun stuff.  It goes right back into home repairs (90 year old house!).  We haven't had a vacation in years.  Plus, my BF is in school full time now also, making it difficult to plan even if money was there for it.

This year, I'm having our stone chimney repointed.  It has a lot of hairline cracks in it.  Better to spend $3K than have it fall over and spend $50K

BTW I have an actual accountant.  The guy who does ours for the office, did it also for the company I used to work for.  We've known each other for ages and he never charges me since I make sure he gets a "bonus" from our company for his services each December (I'm the $$$ person at the job).  One hand washes the other!

I have everything and I do them myself.  I have my withholding set so I have to pay some on federal and get a tiny bit back from state so I will be waiting until the end of March to do them.  I never really got having my withholding so that more money gets taken out for taxes and then I get it back without interest.  I know interest rates are next to nothing now but I never understood that.  I know people who get all excited about a large tax refund but unless they are getting an earned income credit they are just getting their own money back.
