Now before i get into it and people tell me to take him to the vet, I've already scheduled an appointment with the vet but they dont have any openings for a week and a half (and I live in a small town with only one vet) so I want to seek ideas in the meantime.

First thing, my husband and I picked up a cat food that wasn't his regular, the store was out, and he ate that for about a day, then began licking his fur off of his legs and stomach(turned out his was allergic to the new food) , then he started vomiting 5-6 times a day and couldn't really hold anything down but water. Well that went on for 2-3 days, I gave him several things to help try and settle his stomach and finally took him to the vet, turned out he isn't able to naturally form fur balls. I have medicine that helps balance his stomach and bodily chemicals to help form them and keep them from causing blockages. I've noticed now he really isn't eating that well, the hair isn't growing back on his legs or stomach and he's  scratching A LOT, I've tried flea baths and medicine for healthy/dry skin to see if maybe he was digging at his skin because of winter air drying it out but it didn't help. He has now began peeing around the house, I am going to take the hood off his litter box to see if that will help with the later but I don't really know what to do anymore....he's my baby and he's always been very healthy...I'm getting very scared that there is something very wrong with his health...if anyone has ANY insight on what I could do in the meantime until I can get in to see the vet I would be very grateful..

I am sorry to hear this is happening. Can I ask you for a little clarification on the timeline? First how old is your cat? How long ago did your husband buy the food he was allergic to?

How long ago did he start peeing outside the litterbox? How often does he do it? Is he peeing normal amounts? Does he always pee in one or a few spots or will he pee anywhere? Is there any rhyme or reason at all to where he pees (for example is it always on carpet/always on clothing/always on tile? Have you made ANY changes at all with the box, such as moving it (even if only a few inches, no joke), trying a different litter, etc? Have there been any other changes in your house? Any new pets, people, moves? Any rearranging of furniture? Any changes in your schedule?

I am very glad to hear you are taking him to the vet.  If you can please answer the questions I think we'll be better able to help you.  I know some of them might seem like there is no rhyme or reason to them but your answers would be super helpful :)

You got a tough one there....I am not sure that just the change in food would create such a downward spiral. As far as the upset stomach I know with one of my cats if I give them the hairball gel too often it upsets their stomach. The hair he has licked off I can tell you will take awhile to come back just from experience. As long as he has stopped licking that's an improvement and the hair will eventually grow back. The peeing everywhere is a concern because he could have developed a UTI that can't wait a week and a half for a vet visit. Did the vet last time prescribe any antibiotics last time? The loss of appetite could be related to infection from a UTI. It could all be psychological as well. Other than the change in cat food has something else changed in his environment? Has the licking continued?

He's nearly 3 years old, this all started about a month ago. he only ate it for about 2 days before he started liking all the fur from his behind, legs and tummy.  There has been zero changes in the house of any kind, and as for the littler box/litter used, nothing has changed there either, He has started peeing in front of the litter box, in the closet by his favorite nap spot and on my husband's recliner. (which he naps on regularly). I just got through giving him a bath and I noticed two lumps on his stomach, (I did a little research and Im thinking they're fatty deposits, but Im no vet), I forgot to mention with the original post (but I guess it would go along with loss of appetite) but he's lost a little bit of weight lately, I dont know if that would have anything to do with it but more information even if irrelevant could be helpful.

I second the uti. Your vet doesn't take emergency calls?

Yeah he sounds like he does have something more than the non hairball issue going on. It's looking a lot like a UTI. I don't know if the food issue started it but the behavior you have now sounds a lot like a UTI. I'd call the vet and see if you can't get an earlier appointment if you can't maybe the vet will let you pick up some antibiotics. I'd also maybe try to reduce whatever you are giving him for his belly and hairball issue and see if it helps his appetite. he may not need as much as you are giving him.
