Do you have a blender? Do you use it?

Did your blender look like this one? My Mom was given a blender like this as a house warming gift back in 1974.  I had it until about 2 or 3 years ago.  The motor still ran really well, but the gear under the glass container) was stripped and wasn't holding the container in place very well.

I used this blender a lot!! Daily in fact!   I made smoothies, and meal replacement shakes with Glucerna and fruit. Blended soups. I used it until I got my KitchenAid blender.  Threw away the Oster, but I'm sorry that I did. I should have looked into trying to get a replacement part somewhere.  They don't make machines like they used to.

This is the KitchenAid I now have.  I've only used it about 3 or 4 times in the 3 years that I've had it.  I tried making non-alcoholic icy drinks (like Slurpees), but I couldn't get the ice to stay blended. It always separated out.  It does make snow from ice though, so that could be fun in the summer!  LOL  Snow cones!! Snow ball fights!  LOL

Last year I bought a Ninja blender. I've used this a lot.  I love it for smoothies, and because it has 3 blades I don't have to shake the machine or push stuff down.  Since I got this, my KitchenAid has been sitting on my counter gathering dust.  I don't need 2 blenders, but I can't part with my KitchenAid!  The Ninja has plastic gears, and from all the reviews I've read on the Ninja, it's life expectancy is maybe 2 or 3 years, depending on the amount of use.

I really could use one but right now I don't have one. Can't afford it. Does anyone have one that they would like to ''Pay Forward'' ?

I have the NutriBullet. I LOVE it. Of the 3-4 blenders I've tried (in my price range) it's the only that can completely break up frozen strawberries. I was using it almost daily but I've gotten lazy lately.

I have a really old, inexpensive one and I never use it. I usually use my food processor.

I have a small hand blender. My father gave it to me. He thinks I should cook. It sat unused and rather dusty for over a year until I found myself with a gravy-licking FIV cat who was ill and extremely picky. I used it to feed Mum Cat her Fancy Feast soup and that's how I kept her fed until she passed away. Since then, I've used it to make the soup for small kittens, substituting Royal Canin Babycat for the Fancy Feast.

When I got my own apartment I bought a plastic one very cheap and decided to liquify my beans the way we like to eat them back in my country. Blender was a bust. It broke that very same day and I made a mess in my kitchen with the beans.

Had it stored for a while then I got a very nice oster.

I make spaghetti sauce since I cannot have the sauce in the jar.
I love pasta and rice so I usually eat that and very often. I liquify cilantro with a little water and then add it to my rice and it gives It an extraordinary flavor and color.

If I have bananas I make shakes.

And that's pretty much all I use it for.

But I do use it pretty often

Oh and Also to make crepes.

I want to use it to make margaritas but still haven't

Ha! I launched carrots all over the kitchen with a food processor! What a mess! I'm sure you were finding bean bits for ages, as we kept finding carrots in strange places...

natalie_ca natalie_ca my mom had one osterizer when we were kids. She probably has it since she never throws anything away. And because it's a really good blender.

We have a smoothie blender. I use it for sauces sometimes, too, but really makes nice smoothies. The problem is it's always so cold here, we are right on the Pacific, so we never want cold drinks like that anymore. Even in the summer it rarely gets warm enough at the house to want an icy drink. So I don't use it much, just for the occasional sauce or whatever for recipes.

I used to have a little food processor that was perfect and I used that thing all the time. But, things get lost when you move from place-to-place, and I ended up with just the attachments after one particular move. A friend accidently put a box of stuff to be moved with the donate boxes, and I lost my beautiful cookie cutter collection, too. It happens.
