going to get all the cats fixed soon

we are going to bring all my cats in next Wednesday, what advice do you have after surgery at home? should i go buy feliway? any other calming stuff?  

You probably won't need anything calming, actually. The most important thing is to watch that they don't tear open any incisions. Some vets want e-collars on both males and females, some on females only, and others not at all. Males generally bounce right back, while females need several days of not overexerting themselves and may have to go back to have their stitches removed after about a week.

The vet may prescribe painkillers, either in liquid form that can be mixed with their food (or baby food without onions or garlic) or in pill form. Pill pockets or some kind of soft treats like Whisker Lickins that can be molded around a pill are useful for that. You can ask the vet beforehand so that you can pick some up at the store if needed. Some vets don't prescribe painkillers, or only do it for females because the surgery is more involved.

"Your pet must be kept indoors for 14 days (females) or 10 days (males) after surgery unless otherwise instructed.   This will enable you to carefully monitor recovery and will prevent complications and possible death from exposure to outdoor temperature extremes and hazardous conditions.

Restrict your pets activity to a bathroom or laundry room for the next 7 days (males) or 14 days (females)   Do not allow running or jumping, and keep separate from all other animals.

As when any anesthesia is used, stomach upset can occur.   To avoid, restrict the amount of food and water your pet has access to during the first 3 hours at home after surgery.  Offer a smaller portion of dinner than usual, and water in small amounts.  Regular feeding schedules can be followed the day after surgery.  Kittens 4 months and under should be fed and given water as soon as they get home.

Check the incision twice daily until healed.   A small amount of blood or fluid seepage is normal immediately after surgery.  If you notice any prolonged drainage or swelling, contact us on the medical emergency line.

Do not allow your animal to get wet for 14 days after surgery.   This means no baths for two weeks post-op.

We use dissolvable sutures for female cats that do not require removal in most cases.   Male cat neuters do not require sutures.  Please use paper based litter such as yesterdays news or good mews or shredded newspaper for 7 days post-op to prevent dust particles from irritating the incisions. 

(MY NOTE: There is also a corn cob based FRESH RESULTS litter available at some Ingles and some Walmarts which I prefer.  The main point is to have it be DUST-FREE so as not to irritate the incisions.)

DO NOT GIVE ANY MEDICATION WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR VETERINARIAN. TYLENOL IS TOXIC TO ANIMALS AND ASPIRIN CAN BE DEADLY IF GIVEN POSTOPERATIVELY.

Postoperative symptoms that can be considered normal are decreased appetite, decreased energy level, mild nausea, small amount of fluid seepage from incision, slight swelling or redness at incision.

If your pet licks the incision, it might unintentionally irritate the area or cause damage.   If needed, you may fit your pet with an Elizabethan collar which can be purchased from us or other pet supply stores, or use vet-prescribed pain killers for a few days. (We can dispense buprenex at your request.)"

Cats heal very quickly, especially the males after neutering. Females take longer, just keep am eye and report any cloudy drainage, excess redness, or excess warmth to the vet. They may have a 'lump' in the area too, that is normal from the trauma inside.

it will be hard to keep them separate from each other, i told my mom i want  to do one of a time because of that t,but she set up a appointment for all of them on the same day that was the reason i ask about feliway

Your mom might be right. One at a time would mean when they come back the other cats might attack because they smell so different from the vets. Now, they will all be sore and smell the same and shouldn't fight.

hopefully, they won't fight, but for mama cat i think it best for her to be alone.  

should i bring them inside after they fixed?

If you can keep them inside, yes. If they get upset or your parents won't allow them inside, they can do OK outside, it's just not ideal. Feral cats who are TNRed don't stay inside---males are allowed out as soon as they are fully awake, and females are only kept in 1-3 days. But your cats are tame, mostly outdoor cats, right? So I'll consider them something like farm cats. I would try to keep the males in for 3 days and the females in for a week, at least. Safest would be 2 weeks for both genders but this may not be possible. If they have non-dissolvable sutures, keep them in until the sutures are removed. If a cat gets overly upset, I'll let them out sooner because stress can hinder healing.

I've never had to use a cone for either gender, but keep an eye on the girls to make sure they don't pull their stitches out. If one does fuss with her stitches and a cone isn't a good idea for whatever reason, you can put a baby onesie or a tube sock (with the toe end cut off) on her. After 3 days it's not such a big deal so you don't have to watch as closely.

they are always trying to get inside, because i sneaked them in here few times and they learned this where the warmth is. mama cat i am unsure about, she does try to get in here but she might get stress if i don't let her out soon enough. 

mama cat would rather be indoor/outdoor cat, the kittens it doesn't matter

i will bring them in, weather they like it or not. by they i mean my parents

should i have them in separate crates or will they be fine with just one. 

It depends. I know someone who brought all of their farm cats in to the vet in one big dog crate (and it was a lot of cats---15-20-ish) and they did fine, but some cats fight when they're stressed and in close quarters. I would say to use all the carriers you have and distribute the cats evenly, according to who gets along best. The kittens will probably want to be together.

it mainly mama cat i am worrying about. i think it best for her to be in another crate. but the else i think will do fine in the same crate

Great! Glad to hear everything went OK. In my experience, the kittens will be back to normal by tomorrow, but the mama cat will probably be sore for a while, maybe 3 days or more. If you can keep her somewhere quiet where the kittens can't annoy her, I'm sure she'd appreciate it. It's harder on the females who have had litters.

You don't have to worry much about males licking their surgery site, unless they start licking/biting so badly that they injure themselves, but that's very rare. It's just the girls you need to keep an eye on, because their stiches are kinda important .

actually mama is not fixed,, the crate wasn't lock or she figure out how to unlock it, as soon i open the car door she jump out and hid, she hates crates, she don't fight when i put her in the crate tho

Uh oh. Hope you catch her soon---it's mating season and she'll be pregnant pretty soon if she's not already. You don't want a whole new litter of kittens you'll have to get fixed!
