Hello! We adopted two twelve week old domestic shorthair sisters last week. When we adopted them they had upper respiratory infections and were being treated with Tobramycin. One of them had a particularly strong “sour milk” odor coming from her face, and we were told that it was likely due to the infection. The Tobramycin is done and vet says heart and lungs sound great and infection appears to be cleared up. The sour milk smell is not gone yet. Vet said it could be due to new food/new people/new home, but if it persists for another couple weeks to bring her in for bloodwork. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this occur before? It seems to be coming from either her nose or mouth and sometimes is much stronger than others. They are on wet food twice a day and also some dry food. We have been feeding them Science Diet wet food for digestion, Blue grain free and Proplan. They are also both very gassy at times, so vet had suggested some wet food that’s better for digestion. This has not helped the breath. Any ideas? Thanks!!!
