oreo has another mast cell tumor behind ear anything to prevent scratching?

My poor oreo has another mast cell tumor about 3 inches from the last one taken off 2 years ago. He has a terrible time with these and they have all been located close to his ear base.

I know it must itch terribly when removed judging from the first one.

We used a collar but it was a real pain...for both of us...remove for food, remove to drink (by the way his is also prone to crystals).

So does anybody know of anything that we can put over this to prevent scratching? It will have to be on for a few weeks.

Surgery tomorrow morning...please pray for both of us.

I'm guessing he mostly scratches witch his back feet. Maybe tie a large tube sock around his neck, or cut the foot off of a tube sock and put the ankle part around his neck, bunched up so it covers the incision. Perhaps even stuff a piece of panty house with a sock and tie it around his neck? Not sure it that would block it or not. The only bad part if you don't want it to be so covered it smothers it.
I imagine since it only had to block his paw from reaching behind his ear you don't need the e-collar to be as long as it normal,y would be. Maybe can get a small e- collar, or even cut the edges so he can eat and drink with no problem.
