A usual dose of S boulardii is 1/2 the cap in the AM and half in the PM. It doesn't colonize the gut, so the split dose is important. Some have found they need to double the dose. But give it a few days to see. And as always with IBD, if it makes things worse, back up, and start over introducing it more slowly.
Thanks, I gave her half a pill today.  I hope this helps.

Thank you for asking. She's hanging in there. Has had bouts of the runs on the floor near her box, and a few other places, but overall she seems content, and not in pain. I've been giving her S.Boullardi daily (2x half a pill each since Thursday), and Flagyll/Budesonide again. I'm not sure they're doing anything but definitely just trying to get this under control.  She has a lot of heart, that's for sure!  And sleeping in front of radiators are her favorite. Of course.

:heart2: So no improvement yet at all. :( IMO, two choices from here: up the S boulardii or try the bland diet. Consider rehydrated freeze-dried duck treats, even fresh duck (from a butcher so you know it doesn't have extra sodium added as most do), poached and pureed; or Beech Nut turkey (meat-only with the broth) baby food.

You could also consider making a duck bone broth for her. If you want a link, let me know.

Given how often I've seen diet help, that's the direction I lean. But you have tge S boulardii, and so long as it hasn't hurt, might be worth the shot. I don't know if you read the link to the discussion of probiotics on the IBDkitties website, but the "emergency stop diarrhea" instructions that have helped others (obviously not all) involve "flushing" the system with it: giving a smaller dose every 2 hours or so for 2-3 days (1/4 to 1/3 capsule, approx).

If that or the bland diet don't help settle things down, then it may be time to ask about leukeran. :rub:

:vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Thanks, yea I have to go away next week for a few days, so im not sure i want to try anything diet related til i get back because it has produced such disastrous results before. I'll up the dosage of the SB. I'm also gonna gonna get the duck treats as well.

Re: Leukuran, I'll have to discuss that with her previous owner as well as this poor cat has been pumped with and given everything. But I want her quality of life to improve (and mine) so  it's definitely something to look at/talk about.

Nope. A yeast-based probiotic that is stopping diarrhea in IBD cats in particular - many, many of them, and many of them have had intractable diarrhea, often for years. :(

It'd be amazing if this helps. I'm hopeful

I am too. Sometimes it can take some time. :heart2: *Especially* if the problem is actually an ongoing issue with coccidia, clostridium, T foetus, etc that went undiagnosed. Or depending on how much inflammation is present in the intestines.

More :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

There were accidents near her box today as well as in a few other places. I fear this problem is not going to go away no matter what I do. I got mega frustrated today. :(

I'm so sorry, I know how frustrating it can be trying to treat IBD.  Did you ever try giving her any pumpkin?  It may help with the diarrhea.
