its 11 pm, so i wasn't sure where else to get advice. My cats hungry hasn't been great these days. Some days she eats well, other days she doesnt. I figured she was jealous because of the new cat we adopted.

Something that is worrying me is that she used her litter box 4 times in the past hour. I dont think ive ever seen her do that before. She also doesnt want her dinner. She did eat half her breakfast, and half of lunch. A few hours ago, i also noticed a bit of droll coming out of the side of her mouth.

Should i be concerned?

It sounds like she needs to see the vet.  She could be having tummy issues, a UTI, or some nausea.  But all of those symptoms say a vet visit is in order.  It COULD be related to the new cat; those sorts of changes (stresses) can cause illnesses in some cats.

I hope your kitty is feeling better soon!

Is she urinating or having diarrhea? Any sudden changes like this are concerning. Drooling could be a sign of nausea.

Lack of appetite for several days is concerning as well. If she is not getting adequate calories she can develop something called hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease.)

At the very least, I'd get her into see the vet tomorrow. If she develops more concerning symptoms (lethargy, excessive drooling, fever, severe diarrhea/vomiting) then you need to seek out an emergency clinic.

Is she going to the litter box struggling to poop or pee?    Not being able to poop could be constipation.   Not being able to pee is life threatening.

I would see a vet as soon as soon as you can.

Good luck to your baby.

Thanks everyone for the advice, and well wishes.

Kitty suddenly vomited. So i am hoping its just a hairball. Every now and then her appetite gets messed up, she coughs up a hairball, and then she is better. i am hoping that is all it is.

i checked her litter box and she seems to be using it normally. still not sure why she used it so much though.

UPDATE: Its 1 am. I just checked on her and shes lounging in the kitchen. Shes awake and looks at me when i speak to her. It might be my imagination but she seems calmer after throwing up. She still didnt want food.

I feel so sleepy, and feel awful going to sleep.
if she looked ill, i would stay up, but she seems awake and relaxed.

UPDATE:

My cat didnt want breakfast, and spent the morning sleeping. Shes now up at 2pm. She ate about 1/4 can of food. She seems a lot better today, more affectionate like normal, yesterday she didnt want me to pet her. Still not sure if its just the hairballs that made her feel bad, because she vomits about once a month.

I was planning to take her to the vet this morning. but since she was sleeping, i thought sleep would help her feel better faster.

Not sure what to do now. Kiity hates going to the vet and she meows the entire ride there, hisses at everyone at the vet, and meows all the way back. lol I like my vet, because he doesnt believe in over medicating/over vaccinating.

But my friend told me about a vet that does house visits. But i am worried, will a vet that does house visits have the equipment to know whats wrong with my cat?

Please advice. =(

First off the ride to and from the vet can be alot less stressful if you cover her carrier with a towel. This is calming and a big help.

Next is, the majority of our cats all hate going to the vet.

However it does not mean they know what's best for them, so it is up to us.

I highly encourage you to take her for these symptoms, and asap.

The symptoms you have described can be quite serious, and as always, the sooner they are diagnosed and treated, the safer for her, the less damage is done and the sooner she is on the recovery road.

Cats drooling is due to nausea and mouth/tooth pain.

Frequent trips to the box depends on what they are doing or attempting to do, for instance if she is in the urinating position, you need to check the box and see what she produced, is it a normal sized clump of urine? Smaller than usual? Did it take longer than normal for her to pee? Is she in and out but only producing a small amt, perhaps just once?

Is it feces? Diarrhea?

Lack of appetite is prominent and definitely means something is wrong inside.

Vomiting a hairball once a month is acceptable, however once it's out, cat should go back to normal.

What was in her vomit? A hairball, was it in a small amt of liquid? Was there any food with it? Was it colored/brown?

Cats have the best poker face when it comes to pain. They are unable to vocalize what's happening and how they feel, so they rely on us to see the signs and get them help.

Please take her in as soon as possible.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! my cat ate at 2pm, so we thought she was doing better. But it is now 10 pm and she has not used her litter box. i dont have a car right now, and not sure what to do so late at night.

I was planning to take her in the morning to the vet, because my mom can take me. Will she be okay overnight?

I was so sure she would be fine since she was eating, and seemed better today. i feel awful, i should have just taken her today instead of waiting..

She should be okay overnight but I would get her in first thing in the am.

Let us know :)

She may have a uti or bladder infection.

Yes it is definitely serious if that is what is happening, but has she peed at all that you know of for sure?

Also is she acting sick or lethargic?

I changed her litter box this morning at 8 am, its now 11:30pm and no pee or poo. She has been sleepy all day. She was walking around this morning, and awhile ago. She was even following after my other cat. I go check on her, and she always wakes up quickly to look at me.

Yeah that's a long time to not pee.

When you cleaned it this am was there pee, or hard to know since there is another cat I suppose.

This is something that needs immediate attention, if she were a male cat I would say he needs to go to the emergency vet right this minute.

NOT that it is not serious for a female, as it definitely is, but males it can kill them pretty fast if they have a full on blockage and the pee is backed up.

Please be sure, no matter how she is acting in the am, she has something very wrong and I highly suspect a urinary tract infection/crystals. Or bladder infection and she needs meds ASAP.

its hard to know because of my other cat. =(

Yes, i am taking her in the morning, even if she happens to pee in the night, i am taking her tomorrow morning.

I was just worried about her overnight. I will keep what you said in mind, in case i ever get a male cat. I didnt know it was that serious for them.

This is the first time my cat has gotten sick in the four years ive had her. Its so nerve wracking.

UPDATE:

I was planning on rushing to my vet this morning, which i am still doing. But i noticed she peed this morning (which is great as she did not pee yesterday).

But i figure the vet will want to do a urine test. Can i take her in with no urine? she didnt want breakfast. i was thinking of getting a dropper and dropping water in her mouth.

note: sorry for all the questions this is the first time my cat has gotten sick....

If her bladder isn't full when she goes to the vet, they can administer Sub-Q fluids to her, wait about 20 mins and then pull urine for the urinalysis.

They can also remove some directly from her bladder.

How'd it go?

Never apologize for questions, that's why we're here!

we were at the vet office five hours. Her temperature was fine, and she seems healthy. But we tried to do a bladder test. they gave her fluids, and checked every hour. After five hours, her bladder was empty. The vet thinks its because she was so dehydrated. She sent me home with antibiotics without the test done. I couldnt do a fecal to check for worms as i did not take poop.

Now that i got home, i realized my other cat is also vomiting.

recently took her to a vet, and she was fine. She is eating, and using her box. I think its because my mom gives her my cats left overs. lol

What a day!.

Kitty is still not hungry, i think im just going to start her on the antibiotics.

Yes, get her started asap.

I still think it's a uti or bladder infection.

She doesn't necessarily have to have a fever also.

I don't think this is worms, although deworming is always a good idea every now and then.

FYI-you are looking for big trouble giving the cats human food leftovers.

A good reason for a cat to get IBD, which you surely don't want to be dealing with, a big pain and no cure.
