Who else is irritated with the groundhog?  How did he manage to see his shadow when the entire North-East of the US is getting drenching rain or snow?  And the entire Eastern seabord seems covered in clouds according to the weather radar.  Sounds suspicious!
I also heard the groundhog bit the mayor....  Groundhog Day 2015

What are you sick of seeing or hearing about?

For me; the superbowl and saggy footballs.  And anything Kardashian related.  Really.

Stupid groundhog anyway.

  • I'll go along with you on the Kardashians....such weird, weird people. For a long time, I had no idea who they were. Same with the Real Housewives people. Really?
  • Anything football.
  • Listening to the weather weenies oh-so-gleefully talk to us about yet another NAMED snowstorm. Does anybody even remember those names? Stupidest thing in the world. (Although I did hear that Lucy was really peeved when her brother got a winter storm named after him.
     Sorry, couldn't resist.)
  • Obamacare. It's done. Get over it.
  • Gay marriage. (I'm not trying to offend anybody; I simply am tired of hearing about it.(Between Obamacare and gay marriage, there's nothing else in our newspaper)
I'll shut up now.

i'm annoyed with that groundhog. and i'm sick of seeing and hearing about winter -- anything to do with winter, at this point.

today we've had an accumulation of snow in the one foot or so range, this after i just shoveled 5-6 inches off my driveway yesterday morning. and there's more snow supposed to accumulate today and tonight.

btw @MoochNNoodles -- is today the day your new wood burning stove is being installed?

How many times in my life I think I could count on 1 hand.

Politics-town I live in.

I am tired of rain. My yard is drenched and pretty much stays that way. We have had enough rain.

It was.  On Friday the stove was just being loaded up at the supplier to be shipped to the dealer here; so it wouldn't have made it in time.  But we also got the rain end of this snowstorm (thankfully!! although we are under a flash freeze warning right now) so it wouldn't have been done today anyway.  DH took today off so he could be here; so we got a lazy family day mostly.  It's scheduled for Wednesday now.  And the forecast for Wednesday is looking very nice!

I thought I heard (or read somewhere) that he is supposed to be accurate 80% of the time.  I'm curious if that matches actual weather forecast accuracy.

Football in general. Glad it's over for a while.

Kim Kardashian posing nude. The entire world has seen every inch of that chick. Enough already.

Bruce Jenner's "transformation". Who cares? He got away from Kris. What ever makes him happy. He deserves it.

There's no groundhog talk down here. It was 75 degrees today. On that note, doesn't the groundhog usually pee on whoever is holding him?

very exciting! do you have firewood for the wood stove?

i remember when my wood stove was installed. it took all day, they had to cut through the living room ceiling and the roof (above the second floor), and it was very noisy. i had snick and mickey set up in the bathroom with everything they'd need to get through the day, and i checked on them a couple times during the day. i knew my two would rather not have the visual experience of it along with the noise of it. and when the contractor had finished and was gone, mickey and snick checked out the stove and the fence around it. but it was warm enough weather then that i didn't get a fire going that evening. once i started using the wood stove, it wasn't long before both cats had fallen in love with it. snick still lays near the fence soaking up the warmth from the stove with a look of total contentment on her face.

well, it finally stopped snowing here. along the edges of the road the snow is about 3 1/2 feet high, partly due to the snow plow spraying snow up over the edges. i think we got about a foot of new snow here.

Sport.. Australians just love sport of the 'bloke' variety.  Sometimes you can't get a radio or TV station that isn't broadcasting the footy, or the cricket (which to me is akin to watching grass grow but it's better than watching grown men running around a field with a ball bashing into each other, or being interviewed about their latest injury/penalty/dodgy affair ), or cars, for heavens sake, going round and round a track making a sound like the worlds most humungous mosquito and turning people's brains to mush.

And then they go on and on about these people being national icons despite their extraordinary drinking habits and very dubious attitudes towards women.

I just don't get it.. never have. I'd be happy if they banned the lot of it and made them take up ballet.

AAhhh... that felt good.

This. We live on another continent, for crying out loud, and can't get away from stories about them! Have they ever actually made any important contributions to society?

Let's see. do you consider starring in an adult video marketed by your mother to be an important contribution to society? How about claiming to have invented the selfie? How about having a child that is basically a prop (who the internet has nicknamed Ignori and Norphan) for your endless self promotion? If you do, then Dim has contributed more to society than anyone. No, that wasn't a typo.

The mayor of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin got bitten this year :D. The mayor of New York dropped the groundhog last year and he died of internal injuries a few weeks later :(. They can't prove it was from that drop, but it's not like zoo groundhogs live dangerous lives :/. So this year he didn't hold the groundhog. Plus, the poor groundhogs don't even do anything, shadows or not. A committee decides what he's going to "see" and then they just drag the poor thing out for photo ops. So, yeah, I'm sick of that whole thing. It's ridiculous.

When I first heard about Kardashians, I thought the person said Cardassians :lol3: (I was watching a lot of DS9). I saw they sell a "Keeping Up With The Cardassians" t-shirt so I might have to get that, LOL.

We don't have any wood ready!  DH brought home some wood that was being given away; but it's too green.  I'm going to let him figure that out!
One of the local orchards posted that they have seasoned firewood for sale; so maybe he can get some there.  I'm not sure how much he can fit in the back of my Subaru though.  The orchard isn't exactly around the corner.  He did clear off our log rack we had behind the shed.  It was full of pine from some trees that had to come down from our property the first year we were here.  We've used it for our fire pit; but with the kids being small that hasn't had use in a while either.

My plan for tomorrow is to put Mooch and Noodles in my master bathroom.  I'm not sure I will give them run of my room.  DH is allergic and I know they won't keep off the bed completely.  If I do I might just cover the bed with an extra top sheet I can pull off when they leave.  It may be best I keep them in the bathroom; the corner where the stove is going backs to my closet; which is one of their favorite hiding places.  I should have ordered a new Feliway diffuser.

One of my absolute favorite things about my DH is that he DOES NOT watch a lot of sports.  All he makes me watch is Track and Field.  No NASCAR or anything like that!  My Dad and Step-dad are both car lovers in general; so there was NASCAR growing up no matter whose house I was at.  To make things worse; my bedroom basically backed to the living room where the TV was.  Only my closet and the stairwell stood between where the TV was and my bedroom.  There was no escaping the noise.
I can stand watching some baseball; but not football or anything else.  Not even hockey and I used to go to my cousin's games when I was a kid.

This. We live on another continent, for crying out loud, and can't get away from stories about them! Have they ever actually made any important contributions to society?
Famous for being famous.  And pretty; although I'd prefer pretty with a little more clothing on.

I don't know if it was just the committee for the PA groundhog or what; but man they were grinning from ear to ear while reading the little proclamation scroll.  Winter lovers apparently.

I always feel bad for the groundhogs; I'd want to bite you if you woke me up and pulled me out of my nice warm bed to go out in the freezing cold.
Although the year I was pregnant with my son I cried when they pulled him out.  It felt like this momentous moment in history.

that green wood will be the start of firewood for a couple or three years from now. i'm sure your dh will find a good firewood source in your general area.
