This seems to be the place to introduce yourself and I can't resist the chance to show off my cats. Not too much to say about myself, I'm not nearly as interesting as my cats or my eight year old daughter. I think the only thing my friends and coworkers know about me is that I'm goofy, sarcastic and love cats. Here's proof, I call it the cattoo.

So about the kitties--

This is Snowflake (Flakes for short). She's the only one of my six I would ever, ever let outside and that's mostly because I can't keep her inside no matter how hard I try. I picked her up while living in Hawaii assuming she was a stray but learned from neighbors she had been abandoned by the precious tenants. I'm not quite sure how old she is but I've had her seven years now. She's is the most loyal, loving and patient being I've ever known. She put up with my daughter all through her toddler years and still sleeps in her bed every night.

My roommate also has a cat, not listed because he poops on my things. I'm pretty sure he resents me for being moved from a house of one cat to being one of seven. I promise I'm nice to him. But I don't have to like him.
Cats don't eliminate outside the box out of spite or resentment. Something is wrong and he is trying to tell you something. It will save everyone some headache (and possible vet bills) the sooner it can be determined what caused the litterbox issue.

I'm very aware and appreciate your concern. I was mostly kidding. Not about the pooping though. That's a whole 'nother issue in itself. I've actually been looking for the appropriate forum to address it.

My roommate's cat is Tyler and he is extremely sweet natured and loving. But since he is not technically my pet, my authority over him is limited and there isn't much I can do to impact his health or behavior. This has been and ongoing issue since my roommate moved in a little less than a year ago. If you can direct me to an appropriate place in these forums to discuss this, I would be willing.

That said, I'd not like to derail my introduction with this issue.

Ah, my apologies. Text don't translate well online and I missed the jolly tone behind it.

The photo of Murray and Cuddles just melts hearts.
I love all animals and I have been frustrated for a long time in my roommate's unwillingness to work with me with Tyler. I do care for him though. No need for an apology.

And thank you :)

Hello and welcome! :wavey:

Depending on the issue, a thread could be started in Health or Behavior. Why don't you start in Behavior and if it turns out being a Health issue we can move it? :)

Rita- my little old lady.
My mother passed away about six months ago and left behind a dog and two cats. I didn't know if I would be able to handle a sixth but I couldn't see her taken to a shelter. She wouldn't be adopted. She's highly neurotic, extremely picky and very territorial. She established herself as the matriarch, claimed imminent domain in my bed and hasn't left since. She loves to lick armpits. She was a rescue from Hurricane Rita and I'm guessing she's 10+ years old. All neurosis aside, she's a sweet baby and demands most of my attention anymore.

Condolences on the loss of your Mom.  I know how hard that is.   Where did her 2nd cat and the dog end up?

Thank you! It was suggested that I post in Care & Grooming so I posted it there. Please move it if need be!

Thank you, it's still hard. My little sister, who is the dog-person of the family, took her chihuahua and my little brother took the other cat. So they are all still in the family. :)

Good to hear all the pets stayed within the family.   And, I forgot to mention, all your cats are beautiful.  I chuckled at the black cat being named Snowflake.

And the pic of Murray and Baby Cuddles is just the cutest thing ever.

Aren't they?? I love to joke about building a collection. We have a large population of feral cats in my neighborhood because of an abandoned house on my street. I watch them like people watch birds. Every time I see a cat that doesn't match any of mine it's, "Look! I don't have one like that. I need it for my collection!"
