Our 16-year old cat has just started dribbling for no apparent reason.  She produced some long strands of saliva apparently uncontrollably for about 10 minutes whilst being subdued and unresponsive. There doesn't appear to be anything in her mouth and the dribbling has passed now but she is miserable and not responding to affection. She also threw up once earlier today and once a couple of days ago, though this may be unrelated. She seems to be concious and aware of her surroundings. She was inside when the dribbling began though she had been outside unsupervised a few hours ago, maybe less. Any ieas what this could be? She'll go to the vet in the morning but any suggestions for the next  few hours would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Excessive drooling in a 16 year old and then vomiting, she is nauseated. Nausea causes drooling.

Something is going on for this to start suddenly.

If it weren't for her vomiting, I would say it's quite likely a sore tooth/mouth, but along with vomiting, yeah that's from her nausea.

Is there anything poisonous she could have gotten into? Any plants or chemicals?
