Cat sleeping changes

Hi, I have a cat, Mitu, he is almost 3 years old and I am about to ask something very stupid but that bothers me alot.
Since about two years ago he started doing this cute thing where almost every night he would come and sleep on my neck. Sometimes he would come in the morning, hop into bed and on my neck. He is quite havy so I would kinda help him next to me and he would sleep with his head under my face ( sorry, Im kinda bad at explaining this). Anyway, about 1 month ago he stopped doing this and Im so sad I tried calling him, he jumps next to me then he leaves and sleeps at my legs, he doesn't sleep on my neck anymore. Why can this be? I know he likes to change sleeping places often but this on is making me very sad because it came as a shock.
Besides that he is acting just normal, he eats, drinks and plays like before. He is having some allergie problems but thats it. Is this normal and I am overreacting?

It sounds very 'cat' to me..   My girl goes through phases of doing the same thing, although it's more an armpit/shoulder snuggle.  About a year ago she started, and then recently she just stopped.  I was used to it and miss her.  But there's not a lot I can do about it.

In her case I think it may be the weather.. it's been quite hot and humid.  I'm sort of hoping that's what it is as maybe, come Autumn, she'll be back.

So I don't think it's anything to worry about.. We may feel a little rejected when they do these things, but they're really not thinking that way.  There will be some deep-seated feline reason that we couldn't possibly understand..

I feel so sad about it I really hope its just a fase he is going thru.

Yup, cats will sleep where they want and when they want.

I know, he does change places alot, I just tough he will never stop sleeping on me
