My cat barfed for the first time ever!!

I came home to a giant pile of cat barf/fur on my new rug. She is almost 4 and has never thrown up before or had a fur ball! I felt bad I wasn't home because the poor girl was probably freaked out. I'm a little worried even though I know cats barf and it's ok. Her dry food was unchewed which worries me though. So for all you experienced cat moms-How often is this going to happen? What are signs she is sick vs a normal? 

Barfing is never actually 'normal' but an isolated instance is not really anything to worry about, assuming that she is acting normally now and eating okay.

Signs she is sick and should see a vet would be (this list isn't exhaustive but just some of the bigger things to look out for)

-her vomiting again 

-loss of interest in play

-behaving differently than normal

-not eating or drinking normally

-not using the litterbox normally
