A word about trolls....

Trolls on the site come in a lot of different forms. We have the obvious trolls that come on and say "All cats should be dead", "Dogs rule", etc. These are easy to spot. Some trolls are actually a bit tougher. They will come on here and spin tales of woe and get everyone very captivated and emotionally involved in their stories.

We've had a few cases of the latter here on TCS. Members have gotten very, very involved and felt quite betrayed when the person was exposed as a fraud.

If you are ever suspicious of someone please, don't hesitate to let us know. Please do not challenge the person in a thread. Let the Moderators investigate and do our job. You can contact any Mod or Anne via PM or by reporting a post.

At times you will see threads or members disappear either temporarily or permanently. We do respect a member's privacy and will not discuss any Mod actions, to include the identity of who reported a post or raised a warning flag.

I know which thread you're referring to.  I read it yesterday, and knew immediately the person was trolling.  

I figured you guys caught it fast, since none of the mods responded in it.  

Wow. I had no idea people spend their energy doing such things.

Don't go on Youtube then. It's their very favorite hangout. 

I know the thread that's being referred to as well. I'd rather deal with someone who comes here and says stupid stuff or tries to sell us all new kitchens than someone who looks for sympathy. Oh well. All we can do is shrug it off, keep going and of course, talk about our babies. 

Lilith was being so cute this morning. She was all full of energy and racing around the house. She likes when I chase her. I know what she's doing because she'll stop and look over her shoulder waiting for me to catch up to her and take off again. 

It's all about the cats.   

Okay, so I'm feeling very naïve here...really, I'm thinking it's that whole sob story thread that seems to have disappeared?  Wow...I won't get sucked in again~

On a happy note, my "no-longer-feral" kittens have had run of the house with my girl, Charli, for a week now.  It has gone so well, I'm so relieved...Charli has been perfect with them.  This is a photo of them on what WAS Charli's tree, now it's a community tree.

Don't feel naive. We get sucked into these sob stories because we care about cats and each other. WE didn't do anything wrong and WE don't need to change because of them. I will still offer my sympathies and support and if it turns out that the OP is a troll, well they "got" me. Congratulations to them . Trolls have very empty lives. In the end, they don't ever really get anything for their efforts.

I just don't get the point of the whole thing; in the end they are left with what they started with, still sitting alone with their keyboard "friend".  Makes no sense.

That's funny.  And true.  

Love that cat tree! And the lucky cats have a great view. As far as trolls asking for sympathy with phony stories...bha- who knows what kind of satisfaction they get for it.

 Years ago I had a  medical problem that resulted in months of pain. I used to go to a community chat room set up by MA. General. Trolls came in quite often and said hateful things.

 Some would bait us by pretending they had the same health condition. It could be a painful thing depending on how you were doing at the time.

 Some people have problems and because we don't have the same mind set there will be times we get suckered. That sucks but I would rather be us than them.
