So my lovely Princess Baby Kitty had kittens yesterday afternoon.  She had four of them and it we were worried.  The first kitten was left on the floor alone when she was finding a place to have the rest of her kittens (she apparently didn't like any of the boxes I set up for her).  The second and third one she took care of just fine.  The fourth one almost fell as soon as she gave birth because there wasn't any room and she couldn't clean the last kitten off until we moved them into the largest place we could find.  She finished grooming her kittens and they had something to ate then all slept.  She didn't actually leave them until this morning when I was leaving for work.  We moved the box (with her and the kittens in it) from the area she gave birth to the living room so they could have more privacy.  Apparently my boyfriend moved it into the closet when I was at work so he could be close if anything happened.  We moved them back to the living room today and she just ignored them for awhile and then I was awoken by shrill mewing.  The kittens were going crazy and she looked like she was trying to bite their heads off!  I freaked out and didn't know what to do!  She took one and ran back into the bedroom closet and put him down and it looked like she was still biting at him (not sure if it's really a him but it feels like a him).  I shut the door with her on the outside, got a hand towel and took the kitten back to the litter.  They all went to sleep and I tried to do some quick research because I thought that she was trying to eat them or kill them and I love her more than anything but I just can't justify her harming those kittens.  We moved the box back into the closet where it was before and let her near them and she just laid down and cuddled them.  I keep checking on them and am so worried something is going to happen.  She looked like she was being so rough I was so afraid.  I know you're not supposed to handle the kittens, and we've never touched them, only with a hand towel with her scent on them.  My friend's cat had kittens and the queen ate the whole litter in a few hours and I am terrified Princess might get jealous or scared or something and kill them.

i think you should stop moving them just find a place where she feel most comfortable and is quiet, it sounds like  to me she just trying to move them. she wasn't trying to hurt them or eat them,

I assume this is her first litter. New mom cats don't usually know yet how to lift their kittens. They will take their whole heads in their mouth, or grab them by the back, one of the paws, tails.. it'll look horrible but they are just trying to move the kittens the best way they can. It does sound to me that your cat is trying to look for a more comfortable spot and wants to move all kittens. It looks bad, but it doesn't sound bad at all. The mom knows what's best and she'll move the kittens safely to a place she feels is more comfortable.

The second picture you added seems like a good mom with her kittens. I wouldn't worry and let them be. If she wants to move them, let her. When she found a spot and placed one kitten you might be able to help her and move the other kittens yourself so the one that's all on itself can get some warmth :) This moving can happen more often; a friend of mine even had her cat move the kittens at 2 weeks old.

Also, if you need help deciding which are male and female, you can picture their behinds (lol) and we'll help you ;)
