Does anyone use this food ?  Do you re-hydrate it ?  How much do you feed per meal ?

I believe this is a complete diet , correct  ?

I requested a sample from the company , if they don't send me one I can get a small bag on Chewy.com ..

It looks like good food .

Our cats eat a lot of all three of Primal's dehydrated foods: you just crumble them up into the dish, add water, squash/stir with a fork, and then serve. (Beef is, by far, the hardest to crumble.) We usually mix up various blends of the three foods so they get varied flavors. The cats love them and eat them up so they've worked out to be pretty economical for us because there's no waste. It did take a week or two to get the cats eating them consistently -- we originally fed freeze-dried and frozen together -- but they love them now. They eat about the equivalent of 2.5-3 nuggets each a day. Plus a can or two of something else. They're small but active!

I hope your cats like Primal, too!

P.S. Yes, it's complete.

I feed all wet but I have been thinking of adding Stella and Chewy and Primal but I'm afraid its probably too expensive to do consistently.

A couple of weeks ago I tried the smaller bag of Primal turkey and both of mine liked it.   One more than the other.   My Lokhi seemed to prefer it without the water added but its not good to feed it dried all the time.   My other cat Rainy scoffed it up with the added water.   I  fed 1 or 2 of the loafs daily along with their wet food.

Stella & Chewy's is good, too, but (here, at least) it's definitely more expensive than Primal. Even adding a little Primal or Stella & Chewy's every day would probably be great for your cats, @Lokhismom.

And good luck, @2Cats4Me!

Months ago I had tried one of those small pouches of Stella and Chewy.  I only had my kitty Lokhi at the time and he loved it.   I know its more expensive than Primal but its seems to have been unavailable for quite some time so thats why I recently tried Primal.

WIth all this talk of Primal I think I may add it to my Amazon subscribe & save.  I can save 15% on a large bag since I have 5 items in my subscriptions.

Hugo is a big, big fan of primal freeze dried. He isn't a fan of the re hydrated version so I tend to crumble a nugget up and mix it in his wet for variety. it is also the only way for me to get him to eat his barf meat patties as well.

I sometimes mix Primal (or Stella & Chewy's, that's even more effective) into canned foods, too... sometimes it will "convince" the cats to eat something they don't really want!

Sigh - Primal is the only dehydrated raw complete that I can find here in Hong Kong. It does work to convince the cats to eat except when they get too smart and start to pick through the food for primal and ignore the rest of the food after they are done with primal... And then hop on the counter top to whine about the lack of primal in their food..

One of our cats did that with some odd combination of foods I concocted for them... what a mess she made! It was the Stella & Chewy's she picked out, though, because it was in larger chunks.

I've been using Primal FD turkey for about a year now, both my cats really love it. One 14 oz bag lasts me a week, however, I feed a combo of other foods as well (Primal frozen rabbit and NV canned).  I always add water, make it chunky, that's how the cats like it. I wish Primal had other flavors in FD, I only use their turkey.  They are a good company and have full transparency, e.g., they disclose the sourcing of their ingredients to customers (on truthaboutpetfood), one of the few companies that do this. I trust this company. A little Primal FD goes a long way, I find it to be very cost effective (not as cost effective as a balanced homemade raw, however, I've saved money cutting down on canned foods using Primal).  Good luck. ;)

Awesome , thank you .  I requested some samples , they emailed me this morning and said they should be here within a week . Hope my cats like it .

I'm not sure what the cost is of the canned food you are feeding, however, my canned food bill really went down once I started feeding FD Primal.  It takes less FD raw for my two cats to feel sated versus canned. One of my cats doesn't like it super wet either so what I do, after I add the water, is take a pinch of a dry nugget and sprinkle it on top. Or, I'll take a FD raw meat treat, e.g., Origin or Pure Bites, and sprinkle that on top. The one cat that doesn't like the FD too wet then laps it up without a problem. Primal is less expensive than S&C. I like S&C ingredients since they don't use all the vegetables that Primal uses, however, the cats aren't thrilled with the food, I've tried the turkey and duck, duck goose.

Great , thank you .. My cats are so picky with wet food . I cannot find anything they will eat so I decided to try the Primal FD and add water ..  They do eat one meal of kibble too .

I buy both Stella and Chewy's freeze dried and primal frozen meal. Stella and Chewy's cost 35.00 for 12 oz and primal freeze dried is 39.99 for 14 oz. I choose Stella and Chewy's because primal FD as a lot of veggies and fruit. When given a choice I would rather forgo those ingredients.I know S&C's does make frozen raw food for cats for some reason it isn't sold where I live.

It doesn't seem to matter right now as there is no S&C's in the stores

@Maureen Bradley, it was you who was saying before that your prices are high, wasn't it? Yikes, those are crazy high. One of our local stores will order Stella & Chewy's frozen... the cats liked it, though they eventually rebelled. I think it got a little old/freezer burned. Oops on me.

Maureen:

Agreed, yikes -- $39 for a 14 oz of Primal FD turkey?! I've never seen it that high -- I live in NYC and the highest I've paid is $28.00. I usually buy it online, the average price is $26, Amazon currently has it for $24. If I buy online, I try to buy two 14 oz bags so I can get the free shipping.

I prefer S&C's as well, however, the cats don't like it much, they prefer Primal. I do wish though they would reduce or eliminate all those fruits & veggies.

Yeah , this looks as though it would be too expensive  for me to feed as regular meals . If my cats like the sample I think I will just order a small bag and use as a topper on wet foods I want them to try ..
