9 month old kitten has black gunk around nose

Hello! So my 9 month old kitten Miley has had this black stuff around her nose for months. I'm not sure what it is. But I noticed today there is some on the top of her nose now. I have no idea what this could be. Any ideas?

The bottom of the nose actually looks normal-ish to me but the mark on the top of the nose does not look normal.  Have you considered going to a vet to have this checked out or at least calling them to see if they think it is worth bringing her in  for?

My friend's cat consistently gets black gunk in and around his nose too. She's never taken him to the vet (aside from when he got neutered), so I have no idea what it is. I'm curious to hear other thoughts on it too though.

Does he seem otherwise fine? Energy level good? Breathing okay? Eating/peeing/pooing okay?
