Do you have baby pictures of yourself? (Bonus points for anyone who shares!)  How about pictures of your ancestors?

My Grandmother turned 90 this past weekend so it inspired me to pull out an album of old family photos.  A few years back my Grandparent's started dividing things and giving them to who they wanted each thing to go to.  My mother was given my Grandma's writing desk; I have a curio cabinet my Grandpa made for Grandma and my DH was given my Grandpa's old fishing rods and tackle.  I know my Aunt has a collection of these doll figures that belonged to Gram.

The other thing they did was let us go through their photo albums and pull out whatever we wanted.  I took a variety; pictures of Thanksgiving dinners, some family group portraits, birthday parties, a couple pictures that included my Great-Grandmother and baby pictures of myself.

So when I pulled out the album my 5 year old sat down with me to look at the pictures.  Right away she thought these pictures were of her brother!  Back in the 80s some kids clothing really did make it difficult to tell a boy from a girl! :lol3:

This woman in the middle is my Grandfather's mother; taken in 1983. The picture had a date on the back; but it didn't say whose wedding this was taken at.

I'm sure there are more; older pictures at my mother's house. I have some CDs with older pictures too; but I'm not going looking for them just yet. I have some pictures of DH's family that pre-date my own even coming to the US. My MIL made a project of scanning them so all of the kids could have copies. This was in the last year or two before DH's grandmother passed away and she was able to give good notes on who was in pictures. Her memory was amazing considering some of them were from her own childhood or before and she knew who was in the picture!

Yes, I have lots, my grandmother and mom split up the pictures a while back and gave us kids the ones with us in it. I have some pictures of my grandparents in Germany in the 1800's that I will always treasure. Now I have a bunch of my husband and his family too. Most of them are priceless!

Haha, so cute! I love having photos of my family. I'm super sentimental, and I'm glad my dad is too. He has two big frames of old black and white pictures of his side of the family that goes as far as my great grandpa in his 40s or 50s (unfortunately not the case for my mom's side). I only have what I've scanned on my computer, but I did some quick digging and found these: my dad, his younger siblings, and my grandparents

And these are my favourite baby pictures of me

Yes, I cannot share.  I think it would break the scanner because I was a 70's child and Mickey Mouse bell bottoms were apparently in style and Red shoes that looked like tap shoes It should have been illegal for my parents to dress a child.

In honouring the above post, I shall refuse to post my photo of me in my black cord bell bottoms with big 60s flowers all over them (and my swish-swish hula hoop).

I was an 80s child but I know the style you speak of.
I feel the same way about stripped knee socks.  And slouch socks, corduroy pants, turtlenecks and bangs that start at the top of your head....

I remember seeing a picture of my Aunt with my older cousin when I was a kid and asking my Mom why he was dressed like that (obvious disdain for the style in my voice).  My Mom swears we were all dressed with the current styles!  It makes me wonder what my kids will think of how I dress them!

That's the best part of seeing baby pictures!!
Easy for you to say. Your parents had good taste.

Oh that is so neat!  I don't know of any pictures on my side of the family that are THAT old.  My Grandparents were all  younger siblings and children of imagrints.  Any pictures that were brought here likely went to the older siblings.  I do have a copy of my Great-Grandparent's wedding picture on a disk; but my guess is that that is the oldest.  I'm not sure if they were married before or after coming to the US.

My child is an adult now and I put her in the best dresses for all her professional pics. I thought they were very pretty.  Apparently not because we have to hide those pics when her boyfriend or friends come over. She had the little lacy topped socks, in which she tells me now that she hated.

They still make those for little girls too.  They are so cute!  The thing I WON'T do is socks or white tights with sandals!

I have found my DD has a real opinion on what she likes to wear.  I'm going to be very sure she knows that when she is grown and complains!!

I do.  I won't share b/c I don't have a scanner (yet) so I have to rely on my iPhone for pictures.

My oldest turned 21 a couple of weeks ago.  Her grandmother is forever complaining that I never post any throw back Thursday pictures.  So I told her for her 21st (and her sister's 18th next week) I was gonna do the facebook thing.  And THEY could choose what they wanted to have posted.

My oldest's picture is so cute- it's her in her very 1st car (a First Steps van that she got when she was 1).  I think I'm going to put the one where my youngest is at MIL's house in the snow.

I really do need a scanner though.  I have pictures way back to my father's parents.  I have scanned none of them.  I have pictures of my dad and my kids (mind you dad passed away 10 years ago) and I really don't want to lose any of them, since ALL of the pictures I have with him are on film, digital wasn't that big when he was alive.  I'm hoping to get one for my birthday........
