Hi guys,

Well the title really says it all but i have a 15 week old Ragdoll kitten who has been very under weight with a big round belly since we got her 4 weeks ago.
She has been putting on weight (not as much or as fast as her brother who we have as well), she eats regularly, goes to the toilet like normal and is full of beans!

Shes been the the vets twice now for a check up but the vet has just said to keep an eye on her tummy as she agreed it was quite round.

She has had two worming pills now (the ones that cover all worms) so we know its not that.

Do you think i should be getting a second opinion?

I'm just worried as ive heard that there are different conditions that kittens have which can cause them to have the round tum.

Thanks in advanced for any help

Emma

I think your vet is saying to keep an eye on it because the one possibility is wet FIP.  It's very difficult to diagnose and actually impossible to get a 100 percent diagnosis.  Four weeks is a long time to still have a good appetite and lots of energy if that is what it is.  I think your vet is doing all that can be done, a wait and see approach.

Your kitten needs a course of antibiotics. I have seen this in a couple fellow breeders kittens. Clavamox. Or clindamycin.
