My male cat produces twice as much urine as my female.  Is this normal?  he is due for a check at the vets which will include a chem panel (was very normal 6 mos ago) so I am checking on his kidneys...

No, but male cats are more predisposed to diabetes, which causes excessive urination. Have your vet check his blood sugars.

Hi, Arthursmommy:

I will do that.  Obi is also on 5 mg of pred which also predisposes him to diabetes.  However, having had a cat for ten years who developed diabetes, I can say that Obi is not showing any symptoms.  Still, it is prudent to have him checked.  I used to have a glucometer for my cat but I gave it away after he passed, so I cant check him at home.
