My cat of 7 years started hiding a week ago. After three vet visits we realized she was really constipated and had her sedated and cleaned out. I assumed the hiding was due to discomfort but it has continued since returning home. I have to drags her out from under the bed, etc. to give her her medicine. She is not cleaning the sticky medicine off her face either. She growls at me and when she hears me coming, if she has been out in the open, she runs for cover. She has NEVER behaved this way before. She's had other vet procedures and come home to be her normal self quite quickly. She has always come when I called her, loved to be pet and always to come to snuggle with me at bedtime and is reminding me it's time to eat in the morning. Is there something I should do/not do? Help please!

You should call your vet and give them an update.

Yes, I agree.. the first thing to do is consult the vet.  Poor thing.

Welcome to TCS, and do keep us posted.

Is she eating and using the litterbox regularly?

My guess is that she hates the medicine.  What kind is it?  I get that it's in liquid form, is it possible to get it in capsule?  Or perhaps to change to an alternate med that does come in capsule?

I would call your vet. It is most likely that she found the experience traumatic and obviously doesn't like the medicine. I would ask your vet ASAP x

Did the vet find out why she is constipated? There may be something else there that's still troubling her.

She is afraid of you now, you are the meanie giving her that nasty medicine. You have got to find some way to make it a more pleasant experience. Dragging her out daily is just re-enforcing her fear. The medicine has to change or the method of giving it, doe she like tuna juice? It's stinky enough to hide a lot. After the medicine is done, it will take a while, but eventually she'll trust you again. I know it's awful, but you have to do what you have to do! I would suggest calling the vet too, to see what they recommend. All the luck!
