I hate winter?

Saturday is my birthday and I will be 60. I'm not particularly amused by the idea of being 60 years old, but well, it only happens once in your life. The family, meaning the kids, my siblings and their kids, Rick's mom and some friends were all going to meet at a restaurant around Lancaster (about 2 hours or so south of us) to celebrate. We pretty much picked that area because my nephew and his family were coming in from Maryland. My niece was coming in from Philadelphia. One of my friends has a birthday on January 29 and my SIL's birthday is Jan 30. It would have been really nice time and we were all looking forward to being together. We all really like this restaurant.

Enter yet another winter storm, which is supposed to start around 7:00 tonight and to go until mid-day Saturday. 6-8 inches of snow. Down in the Lancaster area, they were calling for freezing rain, which has now turned into snow forecast there, too. Who wants to drive over 2 hours in crappy weather?

No nice dinner, no family, no friends.
Rick and I were talking and I think I'll make a homemade pizza and we'll do it on the indoor grill Saturday night. Maybe rent a movie or two.

(Rick swears he's going to plan a large picnic this coming summer for me, kind of like what I did for him when he turned 60. The only problem is he said I'd probably have to cook for it because he can't, unless all we'd serve were hamburgers.)

I hate winter.

I hate my January birthday.

And to make matters worse, our receptionist just said that now they're talking about a nor-easter that's coming up Sunday night into Monday? Really? How lovely.

I give up. I just give up.

I'm so sorry, you have a right to rant and rave!!!! Happy Birthday any way, I'll be thinking of you! I'll be turning 60 next year, so I know the mixed feelings. Try to have a happy one, I think the picnic sounds great, a better time of the year, and maybe someone will offer to cook since it's your birthday!

Happy Birthday, Pam!!! :party4:

I'm sorry that your celebration isn't going to happen because of the snow. :(. I hope you have a nice day any way.

I wouldn't recommend an end of August birthday. I've had a few hurricane interruptions. :lol3:

Yeah I know about winter birthdays and it's a shame yours has to be spoiled.  But hey, you still have the #1 person in your life who will be with you, that's important and the 6 furkids will be with you too.

Congrats on turning 60, and have a very Happy Birthday no matter what.

Sorry Pam; that stinks! My DDs first birthday was snowed out. My mom and step-dad made it but that was it. Im always worried about that now.

DD was born on my Grandpas birthday and I would LOVE for them to celebrate together; but traveling to his area this time of year is questionable. Even if we got there; we have to get home again!

Oh no.  I'm sorry you can't do your b-day as planned.  But I love your Plan B--sometimes you've got to go with the flow.

Oh Pam that's a shame. I would hate your winters too. I'm sure Rick and Mollipop will give you lots of cuddles and make it special for you. :bday: have a Happy a Birthday. Hugs from me.

Ohhhhh. I love winter-I am a snowboarder. I hate my summer bday which is exactly 6 months from now. So I say we just switch! That way I can get my snow on and you can bask n the sun. Of course I am in Cali and it is sunny all winter too lol Happy Birthday!

I think we should start the Tickets for Pam to Belize Fund.
I second that! Your post make me laugh out loud, Cory! I swear.....the day after I retire....and I'm never coming back.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I got up this morning to give the kids their breakfast and the world is all white outside. I heard the snowplow about 30 minutes ago. Probably about five inches or so. Not too bad, but it's still coming down.

It's official. I'm trading birthdays with Slykat12.

Happy, Happy birthday, Pam!

How about curling up in front of a fire (if you can), with mugs of home-made cocoa and some of your gourmet-cooking?  That sounds like a nice way to celebrate a winter birthday! Embrace having a winter birthday by doing something cozy and warm. It stinks that you can't celebrate with the rest of your family, but I do hope you and Rick manage to have a great day together today.

I don't really celebrate my birthday now--I stopped a few years ago, as I've never enjoyed birthdays, even as a child. I find all of the attention directed to me somewhat embarrassing, as well. (Though, oddly enough, those gifts of fine jewelry from DH don't seem to bother me. Hmmm....)

You can also trade with me: mine is July 30th! Hot enough for ya?

Thank you! July 30 would be perfect for me! We can have a pool party!

We don't have a fireplace, unfortunately. I'm going to do a pizza tonight....took some sausage out of the freezer for a sausage, mushroom, onion, and green pepper pizza. We'll flop back in bed with the cats, eat pizza, and watch a couple movies on On Demand. It will still be nice. And next week, we're planning on going out some place to dinner to celebrate the January birthdays then.

Happy, happy birthday, Pam!
I'm sorry you're stuck in the house. I love celebrating my birthday (if that makes me juvenile then so be it!) so I understand the disappointment. I hope that's one heck of a pizza you guys have tonight! And I hope you can have a nice warm celebration this summer, too.

Why not arbitrarily pick another date to celebrate your birthday? One of my nephews was born January 7 and decided as a little kid that it was too close to Christmas and has celebrated on July 7 ever since.

:grphug::bday: Sounds like you are ahead of the game with the evening you have planned. Nothing is better than curling up with the fur bundles and hubby. Enjoy.
