I hate winter?
Saturday is my birthday and I will be 60. I'm not particularly amused by the idea of being 60 years old, but well, it only happens once in your life. The family, meaning the kids, my siblings and their kids, Rick's mom and some friends were all going to meet at a restaurant around Lancaster (about 2 hours or so south of us) to celebrate. We pretty much picked that area because my nephew and his family were coming in from Maryland. My niece was coming in from Philadelphia. One of my friends has a birthday on January 29 and my SIL's birthday is Jan 30. It would have been really nice time and we were all looking forward to being together. We all really like this restaurant.
Enter yet another winter storm, which is supposed to start around 7:00 tonight and to go until mid-day Saturday. 6-8 inches of snow. Down in the Lancaster area, they were calling for freezing rain, which has now turned into snow forecast there, too. Who wants to drive over 2 hours in crappy weather?
No nice dinner, no family, no friends.
Rick and I were talking and I think I'll make a homemade pizza and we'll do it on the indoor grill Saturday night. Maybe rent a movie or two.
(Rick swears he's going to plan a large picnic this coming summer for me, kind of like what I did for him when he turned 60. The only problem is he said I'd probably have to cook for it because he can't, unless all we'd serve were hamburgers.)
I hate winter.
I hate my January birthday.
And to make matters worse, our receptionist just said that now they're talking about a nor-easter that's coming up Sunday night into Monday? Really? How lovely.
I give up. I just give up.
