My kitty Khaleesi is 2 1/2 and otherwise in perfect health. However earlier last week she scratched a bald spot on top of her head, right next to her right ear (checked both ears and they are clear of debris and look normal). I saw her scratching and when I saw fur coming off I stopped her, but not before she pulled out about a dime sized spot. It wasn't bleeding and while one part of it looked inflamed and red, it didn't seem urgent so I put some cortisone cream on it and let it be. A week later it isn't gone, and if I touch it Khaleesi seems to dislike it and then starts scratching at it again. I know dogs can get hot spots which start off as a place they scratched due to an irritant, but even after the irritant is removed they keep itching/licking the spot as the hair growing back/wound healing itches so it becomes this loop of itching/healing/itching. Do cats do the same? Khaleesi has a bad habit of rolling in cat litter whenever I clean the boxes, or if there is enough kicked out on the floor, and recently I started adding this arm and hammer deodorant powder so I am not sure if she rolled, the powder irritated her/cat litter scratched her head and caused the original spot or not. Also it is winter and I know my apartment is super dry, I myself am suffering with dry skin...could that be it?

I can take her to the vet if needed, but would like to avoid it as she is a very sensitive kitty and the last time we went to the vet she came home and hid behind a chair for 3 days...and was super jumpy for a week after that. So I am hesitant to take her to the vet if this is something I could fix at home, or if it is nothing to worry about. She has no other symptoms, she does seem itchier than usual in general (unless I am just noticing her every movement more now) but besides that she is acting normally. Very playful and affectionate, eating and drinking. I need advice as to what I could do to heal the spot/relieve her itchiness.

Does she come in contact with other animals that can scratch her? Of she fights with? It looks like a scratch that got a scab that fell off with some hair.

She lives with another cat, but they never fight or play roughly. I have never seen her get a scratch from Lexi (the other cat) as they barely even play, and the day she did this I didn't see a scab come off...just fur
