It's my first day of day shift after more than 15 months of working 1pm to midnight. Just last week I was sleeping from 2-3am until 10-11am and this morning my feet hit the floor at 5:04am!!!

My new schedule is basically 7-4 but I have to get up so early because I have to commute about 40 minutes, and over the last few years I've lost the ability to roll out of the bed and leave within 10-15 minutes that I used to have. I need some downtime to get my wits about me, no matter what the wakeup time! So with my new schedule I'm up at 5 to have 30 minutes of alone (read: computer!) time, then wake up my fiancé at 5:30. Breakfast, feed the cats, get dressed, and I am leaving the house at 6:10am.

What's your morning routine like?

I used to get up between 4:45 and 5:00 and leave the house around 6:15. Now I can sleep till 6:15, but I'm usually awake some time between 5:00 and 5:30. Once I open my eyes I can forget about staying in bed, thanks to Mogli Monster.

Usually I go downstairs, feed him and put the coffee on, shower and get dressed, then go through my email and "new posts" while eating breakfast.

On days when I have 8am classes, I get up at 5:40. On days when I have 8am work, I get up at 6. On days when I have 10am classes, I get up at 7:30. If I have classes or work later than 2, I tend to wake up naturally between 7 and 9 depending on what time I went to sleep the night before.

Get up, brush my teeth, fill the kettle and let it boil, turn on the computer and humidifier in the bird room, grab my Ninja Turtles towel, shower. After shower, get oatmeal ready and feed the cats while it cools, and once the cats are eating, I get to eat too. Those are the only "static" things in my mornings.

I have always been a 'morning' person, I definitely have the most energy in the AM! I get up at 4:00AM every morning, even on my days off. First off I get the coffee going, then feed my two inside cats. Then I feed the outside cats, and that involves a heated dish. I then drink coffee and read until 5AM, Wash my hair, get ready for work at 5:30, Leave the house at 7:15. In between I clean out the litter boxes, change the water in the cat bowl, straighten up the house, make the bed after hubby gets up. I put squirrel food out, peanuts for the blue jays and woodpeckers, and fill the heated water bowl for all every morning too. I go across the street every morning at 6AM to feed the ferals there. I don't want them to cross the road (which most do anyway). Summers are a lot more busy, I try to get some watering in before I leave. Mornings are the 'me' time for reading, and even the cats know not to disturb me!

I'm also a morning person, thankfully considering my weekdays.

I get up around 5:45 am.  I have a fairly long commute from NJ to NYC.  After taking care of my own needs, it's downstairs to feed the kitties around 6:00 am.  Watch some morning news, check emails, etc. Finish dressing. Give cats 2nd portion of breakfast (I split it because Casper barfs sometimes when he has too much in front of him).  Out the door 7:00 am.

Weekends, I usually can sleep in until around 7:00 am which is fine for me.  Sometimes even 7:30 or so.  Both cats have gotten much better about waking us up. Casper almost never does, he just waits patiently by the bedside and send Cocoa to do the dirty work.  But even she has calmed down over the past year or so. She usually will jump on the bed and settle down between us, and once she realizes nobody is getting up she'll leave us alone for a good long while.  But she really can't handle past 7:30 or so.  No big deal to me, I wouldn't sleep in anyway.

I usually wake up between six and seven. However we just bought a new bed mattress set, and I have been sleeping until eight. But I am usually around twelve going to bed. The new mattress I think is having a positive effect.

BooBoo and Pepe have me awake around 4:00 or so most mornings. I don't get out of bed, though, until 5:00. And that's pretty much it for weekends, too. I usually get out of bed to feed the kids on Saturday and Rick feeds them on Sunday and then throughout the week.

On weekdays, the alarm rings at 5:00.  I get up about 5:15 and leave for work around 6:30.  On weekends I usually get up a little later, like around 6:00 or 6:30.  I'm a morning person, so I'm usually in bed ready to fall asleep by 10:00 or earlier.

4am because Leroy insists on being fed. Not a problem during the week since I have to leave by 5:15 to get to the bus stop (bit of a walk) so I can get to work by 6:30. On weekends, I roll back to bed after feeding the cats at 4am and washing their dishes. I don't get up again until 8am or so

I am a night owl but during the work week I am up at 5 AM. I need some downtime before work too and thankfully my boyfriend, who works 2nd shift, and my cat are still sleeping. I make coffee and watch the news usually for about 30 minutes after I get ready. Or I'm out scraping off my car on these lovely Wisconsin mornings. On the weekends I'm usually up around 9 because I don't go to sleep until 2 or 3 AM.

I'm a night owl too. My favorite time of day is between 10 PM and 5 AM. The world is peaceful and quiet. I never go to bed before 1 regardless of what time I have to get up. If I'm going in early, the alarm goes off at 445, up at 5 get myself ready, feed the cats, walk the dog and out the door at 530. I shower at night before bed. If I go in at regular time, I get up at 6 do the same routine and out the door at 645.

In the summer I like to sit outside when the town is asleep. I love the sounds at night :)

I have never been a morning person and I don't think I ever will be.  I am supposed to get up around 9; but lately it's the kids waking me up because I've fallen back to sleep.  I'd like to get up by 8:30 but it just doesn't seem to be happening.  I'm NOT a pleasant person to wake in the morning.  My natural rhythm seems to be going to bed at 2am and sleeping till 10.  I like the quiet of the night time; especially after a long day.

My natural rhythm is pretty close to yours. Ideally, I'd stay up until about 3 and sleep until about 10. The cats and the alarm clock don't agree with that though. I hate mornings.

I go to bed around 1am and an on here for a few hours and if I'm not tired I read. I go to sleep about 4th if I'm lucky anday sleep till really late. You're all probably having your lunch when I surface. As Ifree feed I don't get woken up unless whisky wants to come into bed with me. Then I go back to sleep. It's just gone 11am and we're all still in bed.

That's my natural rhythm too. I'm having to work hard to adjust to the new schedule - using a combo of tricks including melatonin, bright-light therapy for 15 mins in the AM, and a few other things to trick my body into getting tired around 9-10 pm and awake at 5. So far I'm doing okay - it's currently 5:14am and this post is moderately coherent, ain't it?

Perfectly coherent!  There is no telling what i would post at that hour!
When my kids were small babies and eating at all hours I'd get up to feed them and say things to my DH that I wouldn't even remember.  Sometimes I would remember that whatever I said wasn't very nice or pleasant; but beyond that everything was a blur!  Sometimes DH will tell me something on his way out the door in the morning and I have to text him later to ask what it was he said.  Or he has to repeat himself 3 or 4 times because I can't seem to understand him.
