I'm getting one of those fake 6 foot white trees this year.
Then I don't have to worry about the tree again for
a long time.
Plus they are so pretty!

No tree here , cant have one with all my cats . But if I could place one it sure woud be a fake one , so a real tree would not have to be cut just for me . Unless I would like to plant one , then I get one with roots to plant in the spring .

Fake one. Hubby's really pushing for a real tree at some point, but I don't even know if we're going to have a tree this year.
We'll be gone the week of Christmas - leaving in 3 weeks - for the whole week. We have a cat-sitter lined up, but I don't want to add anything potentially dangerous for kitties left to their own devices for most of every day for a week.

Almost the same here, but Hubby hates fake trees. When we do buy one, we keep it outside, put fruit ornaments on it for the birds, then plant it when it warms up.

My cats would love a tree a little bit too much.......

No tree for me either. I can just see one day coming home and seeing a cat or two hanging entangled in the lights looking pathetic all the while trying to act like they didn't do anything.

I have 2 trees. One 'formal' one in my dining room which I decorate to the hilt, then I have a 'fun' tree in the den w/ all the kids ornaments, etc.

Both are fake

No tree for me either - if I get a fake one, I don't trust the cats.

I don't like the idea of cutting down a tree and killing it just to make my living room pretty for a few weeks, the environment needs trees more than I do.

I have an tree facimile!
Have had for the last 3 years. Before that I got a real tree every year but I had to wrestle with it myself. Bring it in, put it up, take it down, dispose of it. Besides... I started to think maybe it wasn't a good idea to cut a tree just so I could decorate it and let it die.

We have two trees as well- a real one in the living room decorated with mostly kid-made ornaments and a smaller fake one in the porch thats all done in burgundy and gold . I loooove the smell of a real tree

I saw some stuff at the store the other day- a mister that you spray your fake tree with to give it that 'real tree' smell- thought that was kinda neat

Gibbons was ok with the tree last year, as he was pretty tiny still. This year he has been ripping things down as soon as I put them up. I put fake greenery with white lights and bows around my stair banister, and came back to the house later that day to find it torn off and Gibbons playing with one of the bows

I am not putting a tree up because

a. I have no room
b. My cats would destroy it in 2.2 seconds

And I thought this thread was about something else.

Right now we have no tree up just lights on the outside. I have a fake tree which I don't like but it may get put up later usually just before christmas day.

We got a real one, we go to a tree farm near here every year and cut our own. Its an 8 foot leyland cypress. They are so pretty! The cats are taking the ornaments, I went and bought some plastic ones so they cant break them and get the glass in their mouths or paws. I'm getting the cats a Panic Mouse for Christmas, they should love that.

We just bought our first fake tree. I have to say it is pretty nice. At a glance, it is really hard to tell that it isn't a real tree. I do miss the pine smell though.
We have always had real trees up to now. I have always heard horror stories of cats climbing fake trees and distroying them. We put the tree up last night, and so far, so good.

Movin' on up!
Real trees are too darned expensive and they're not good for kitties. Two years ago, I bought a six-ft. artificial tree for $10.00 and we'll probably use it, until we die! MUCH better value.
