Hi all ive just joined here as i came across some posts through a Google search of FHL. One of my four kitties has been in the vet for almost three weeks. She's had a feeding tube in for about a week. She sems to be doing well but then seems to take a step back again. Vets are sending her home tomorrow fot me to continue tube feeding her here in hopes that being in a comfortable, familiar environment might help. Her potassium is low, despite being on fluids and them trying yo supplement it and her temp seems to be ok for a few days but then goes back up again. I know shes been on injectable antibiotics and they're switching her to oral to come home but im not sure of exactly what other meds she's on, if any.

While the vets have said that most cats that dont make it usually pass away within a week, they've marked her as poor prognosis because of her blood results (liver enzymes have shown some improvement over the weeks but there have been issues with red snd white cells aswell as the potassium being low.

I guess I'm hoping someone might have seen a similar situation where the kitty has pulled through. Or have any advice on what I can do at home to increase her chances as much as possible?

It sounds like your kitty has something going on that is different from what the rest of us that have dealt with this have had.  Hepatic Lipidosis is almost always secondary, the primary issue is whatever caused the kitty to stop eating.  In my kitty's case he had undiagnosed IBD with vomiting.  Have they identified the primary illness?  I would think that the primary illness would give a better idea as to prognosis.

She's had ultrasounds and biopsy done on tussue from liver and pancreas (she was in for about a week havung all the testing before they confirmed hepatic lipidosis and inserted hwr feeding tube). They can't find anything going on within her body that may have been the primary cause. One of our other cats had a urinary blockage a couple of months back so we had to change their food. This is around the time I noticed she wasn't eating much and had lost a bit of weight. I put her back on the old food (was separating her) but with a couolenof weeks, she was vomiting and this is when the testing started, she was hospitalized and put on fluids then the feeding tube went in after all the biopsy results came back.
