My interspecies household....

Here is my interspecies household.

A ten year old Budgie, A 4 year old Budgie, A Hamster, 5 Goldfish and Paddy the cat.

Hamster, Goldfish and the 4 year old budgie are of no interest to the cat. The Ten Year old budgie and paddy play all the time, cuddle up together its lovely to see.

I have 13 cats and 4 dogs.  They play together all the time.  My boxer/pit mix grooms them all, except for one. Annabelle  is an aggressive cat, but loves to lay by Riley, the big dog. But Riley is afraid of her.  When Annabelle lays beside her, she expects Riley NOT TO MOVE.  So Riley lays real still and rolls her eyes at me for help.  I have to move Annabelle or hold Annabell while Riley moves to a different spot.

Annabelle is slightly brain damaged as when I rescued her, I had found her on the side of the road, half dead.  She had been hit by a car.  She had to have her tail removed and I think the nerve endings around the tail area are still very very sensitive and it has been years past. She doesn't like to be touched and scratched by her tail like most cats.  So the dogs all steer clear of her, even though she likes them.  Her tongue was impaled by her teeth as well.  She had to have facial surgery.  She spent two weeks at the vet before coming to my home.  Mentally she never recovered even though her physical injuries are well.

The other cats steer clear of her too.  All the animals know to leave Annabelle alone.  She is a mental cat.  She will sit by me and let me scratch her head and love on her, but I have to watch her signals.  If she starts growling, I stop.

Yep, I love having multiple animals.  I'm a housewife so I have lots of time to spend with them and watch them.

My other cats rub around Riley legs.  Tink, a cat, really loves Riley.  She lays curled up under Riley's neck at night.  They all snuggle though.

Good to hear they all get along.  My cat would have thought about your bird & hamster as something to chase & kill.
