that was a typo. They eat OK. They like it but I'd prefer them to eat no grain.
Does schesir have grains? or is it good..i gave it to them once but I don't remember if they liked it or not.
I just need names of what'a good then I can find out if they have it or not before going.

I always go to chewy.com on my iPhone and type in the brand and read ingredients and reviews. I do not know what you can get in Israel. I feed the chicken and duck pates by Merrick, but you said no go. I feed Natures Varietty Instinct Pate or Pride by Instinct chunks or minced, (most like raw), Tiki cat or Weruva or Cats in the Kitchen is shredded, Nutro Natural chunky chicken loaf.

I am NOT saying FF is bad but if my cats are eating that they will not touch anything else . It is time for a change .

So I need suggestions please . I am not worried about them eating wet food , they love it . Just need to find a few brands that they like ..  I have a few requirements though ..

I have to be able to buy local , Petco or Petsmart , Pet Life ..

It has to 5.5 to 6 oz cans  & no more than  $1.50 per can .

It has to be Pate  , No fish please ..

It has to grain free  , No  meat by-products or  MSB..

Because my cats like their wet food so watered down

( 3oz mixed with 3oz hot water and split between them twice a day )  I only need to use one 5.5  or 6oz  can a day so I can afford to give them a good quality can food ..

Don't worry they don't starve , they get one meal of kibble . NV Instinct Grain Free Chicken .

Thank you ..
* UPDATE *  The title should have read " Nothing BUT  Fancy Feast " ..

I had good intentions  , really I did  .But after a couple days my cats started  boycotting wet food .. No matter what I gave them or how I served it they  take just a bite or two or would not even look at it ..

I gave them just kibble for a couple days and already noticed a decrease in their urine output .. Scary !

Today I gave each a full can of Fancy Feast and they ate every bit of it ..

I know it is probably wrong but FF is what they want . It is what they like ..   Maybe I will try again sometime to add something else ..

Thank you to those who gave suggestions ..

Don't beat yourself up about it. There are definitely worse foods out there than FF. If they really like the classic pates then give it to them. The Sheba pates are very similar and go for .50 a can at Wal Mart. Sheba has coupons out a lot, too. Often on the cans on the shelves, in the inserts in the Sunday paper and from coupons.com.

Not every cat likes the premium brands. You tried. They made their decision. it's better to give them the FF that they want than it is to throw out cans of pricey cat food every day because they won't eat it.

Thank you so much . It is nice to know someone understands .. I know how important a wet diet is so I will give them what works .

My cat is dead because I thought Fancy feast was not good enough. I tried the better wet food and he wouldn't eat it. He ended up on dry fish cat food. He got blocked and died at Christmas. He would probably;y be alive now had I kept him on fancy feast.

I came here just like you wondering if fancy feast is horrible. it is not as horrible as your cat being dead.

That is exactly what happened to me exactly. Only i did not realize the urine thing and he is dead 9 months later from urinary blockage. I am furious at myself and the people here who said fancy feast is so horrible. I was even told here that I don't love my cat if I fed him Fancy Feast.

I have not read the whole piece so excuse me if I repeat what has been said. I am so sorry about your kitty. Are you saying you went from canned FF to only dry food in another brand, because of comments on this site? Most posters agree that any wet Is good to keep your cat hydrated.

I went from fancy feast to premium wet but he wouldnt eat it so then i ended up on quality dry. By the time he went on quality dry, it was a month after i read the posts here, it didnt occur to me that dry might contribute to him getting blocked and dying.

Were you originally feeding FF wet or dry?

That is very strange. Typically I hear on this site that Fancy Feast is a decent budget wet food (meaning that there is better, but you are OK on Fancy Feast). Same for Friskies wet and Sheba.

I am very sorry for your loss! I really do believe any wet food is beneficial to male cats. Some are better equipped than others to handle dry but your poor baby was not. I feed my boy WATERED down wet only because I worry about crystals and blockages. I rotate his wet foods, and yes FF classic canned is one of them.

This is what I've seen too - particularly because their pates are even grain-free. I only signed up a year ago, but even then I was seeing posts about budget wet foods like Fancy Feast and Friskies. From what I've seen, a large part of the community believes in and practices feeding as much wet food as their cat can/will eat (with the exceptions of certain things like prescription diets or if it comes to it, foods that won't exacerbate IBD or allergies). Regardless, I'm sorry for your loss, @ander35.

It's possible that there is some outdated information floating around, such as the idea that byproducts should be avoided like the plague. I think it was relatively recently that I learned that byproducts are still meat and nutritious, just a little questionable compared to ingredients that explicitly say "chicken" or "beef", etc. Now? They may be grocery store brands, but they can definitely be the "lesser" of evils. I have no issue feeding byproducts, nor some dry, nor cheap wet. We do the best we can for our pets and we're constantly learning.

@2Cats4Me, I'm pretty well tied to 3 cheap pates (Friskies, Health Diet, and Grreat Choice) which I won't complain about because they're not terrible and they're easy on the wallet, but when I buy different foods, especially the higher end ones (that I really need to justify the cost of
), I mix it bit by bit into their normal wet foods. If there's too much of the other foods, they'll take their sweet time eating it if they finish it at all, but I can feel good that I can get both higher end and something they like into their bellies.

Anyhing is better than dry food no matter what. Dont feed fish because it can supposedly contribute to urinsry blockages. Some cats can eat dry food for ten years and not get blocked but if a cat is susceptible i believe wet vs dry could possibly be the difference bewteen getting blocked and dying and not getting blocked. It is a nightmare and i will never get an animal again after this i just feel too guilty.

Don't say that, you should in time get another pet. There are thousands of them needing a home. Teach others from your experiences. I agree with you 100% about kibble cheap or expensive, with some and I stress SOME cats, especially male cats it can cause health issues.

I put my cat to sleep instead of getting him PU surgery. He blocked and was catheterized for 3 days. They let him out and he blocked again. This time they kept him for 4 days catheterized. They said he needed PU surgery. I was up to $2500 at that point. The doctor who normally does this procedure was out of town for 6 more days. They said I could have another doc do it but I spoke to another vet who said you want someone who does this alot.

I would have been up to 5 grand if I did the surgery and I could not bear the thought of constant suffering with uti's and complications and etc.

I put him to sleep thinking that if he had the surgery he would always be peeing on himself or utis and etc or have stones because I read that there are a ton of horror stories with this afterwards.

However, I now feel I did the wrong thing and cannot move on from this. I try to shut it out and wait for it to pass but it won't.

You did what you thought you must, you did what you thought you should. There is no shame or guilt in that. You will heal in time, just don't keep a future pet out of your life forever, they add to the quality of life.
