Hi,

Attached is a couple pictures of our cat. I'm a dog person so I don't know a lot about cat breeds.

We think he is a Tonkinese, but from looking at pictures he could also be Burmese (or maybe something else? ).

What do you think? His name is Pinky (from Pinky and the Brain), but commonly goes by the moniker of Puss.

I know this isn't 100%, but just curious what members with a keen eye for cats think.

Thank you,

Ben

Nay, both Tonkinese and Burmese has masque, are  pointed - although its different [poin]t-genes.  So nay, look for something else...

Is Pinky totally white, or do I see a little dark sploch on his head?

But it stands still in my head at this moment, so I wait with suggestions and guesses.

Does this pretty one has a history behind?   Are you from USA or somewhere else?

Hi StefanZ

Thanks for the input. He is completely white except for the pink ears and nose. He also has yellow eyes (not sure if that is relevant?)

I can't say on the history unfortunately; we picked him up from an animal rescue and they didn't know much about him. We are from Australia.

My wife said to say that he walks on a lead and is pretty talkative.

Thanks,

Ben

Australia? So he may even be a Russian white, of pet quality. Pet qualtiy as his eyes arent green.   As I see on the online pics, R.W. doesnt not always has the same intensive deep green eyes of Russian blue, but being supposed to be alike, just with the difference of fur color, they are supposed to have green or at least, greenish eyes.   (I havent seen a proper breed description of Russian White, just a quick googling).

And thus, RW cats without greenish, are not so much cared for,  and have easier to happen to be at a shelter...

Australia is country where the Russian White (or Russian blue in  white color, as they prefer to say, were created, by crossing a white sibirian female with RB stud.  And recrossing.

This white seems to be dominating, giving the white fur.   And repeadly recrossing with RB they got heavily gene material from RB proper.

There are surely other possible explanations, but this may be one, I think.   I you werent in Australia, I wouldnt try with this explanation, however.

Beautiful cat, not a tonkinese nor a burmese though.

As poster above told you, if you're from australia it is possible you have a Russian white or a domestic cat with a lot of russian white blood in him.

Thanks for all your help, we really appreciate it.

I didn't know about the Russian White, but looking at images on Google he does look very similar.

Regards

Ben
